Are some of you assuming Morey didn't go after any available PGs other than Dragic just because we didn't hear about it? There also seems to be a weird unwillingness/inability to acknowledge that teams gave up good assets to get the PGs they did. With Jennings down, Detroit was unlikely to part with Augustin unless they got a PG in return who could conceivably carry them the rest of the way. With whom could we have beat an offer of Reggie Jackson?
Yeah, this probably the same crew that wanted use to tank after the Tracy/Yao era. We'd still be at the bottom of the cellular.
Broken damn record with you guys. First, basketball is a sport with a lot of ebbs and flows throughout the year. Very few teams consistently play well all season. Y'all watch the sport knowing this, but act like the sky is falling after every bad stretch. Maybe you all should choose a sport that doesn't have as many swings during the season. Football is typically pretty even keel. Second, Dwight has been injured practically all year. Every single person b****ing right now said before the season, that the Rockets would miss the playoffs if Dwight missed any time. He has missed a ton of time, and we are still doing quite well. Y'all contradict yourselves so much it is hard to read the posts and not just laugh. Third, the only "star" PG we had a legitimate shot at was Dragic. Giving up (uh oh here comes that word ) "assets" to get someone who does not want to be here, and is a 30 game rental is not smart. Especially when it now seems like it would've cost us 2 1st's and a rotation player. I can't believe how many times this has to be explained. It is an even worse move not knowing what is going to happen with Dwight. I don't know why I continue to respond to these threads. It does no good, but maybe I can get through to just one of you. I cannot fathom how you all believe that you have all the information needed to judge the FO and coaching staff. We have no clue what conversations happened or didn't happen. We don't know what Dragic and his agents were telling our FO. We don't know how many trades we tried to get done before getting a young promising rookie, and a veteran pg for bench players... which most reputable analysts considered a solid move by the way. Y'all don't know **** except for the product being put on the court, which has been pretty good if you haven't gotten the opportunity to watch it, because your too busy playing armchair GM on a fan site. Continue to b**** about McHale and Morey. Continue to b**** about not having a championship in 20 years (7 different teams have won in that span btw... which means about 77% of the NBA needs to fire everyone on their staff), continue to b**** everytime we lose... I'm sure all of this whining will make your experience of the best Rockets team since '95 that much more enjoyable.
Duh. I thought everyone received the email sent out to Rockets fans fully breaking down every trade Morey discussed and all the back and forth transcripts between he and the other GMs in the past few weeks. We all know all the facts so we are angry and stuff.
i agreed with going all in for bosh this summer. i agreed with letting parsons go because that contract isn't worth matching (i'd rather have ariza and brewer for that money). this deadline it was time to go all in and cash in the chips. the ending contracts, the young players, the picks, should all go for a big time player to get us over the hump. if nothing was available i would understand... but nothing was available because of our reputation of asset flipping. its time to start investing in our young players and getting a reputation for developing and paying our own guys, instead of trading them in a contract year.
KJ McDaniels and the upcoming NO pick will look good in a couple years. Didnt matter who you went out and got, overspend for Dragic or bring in a couple fo no names EVERYTHING hinges on Dwight, and with so many questions surrounding him why gut the team?
That is not correct. Smith signed for the Bi-Annual Exception, not a vet minimum exception. That's 2.0 million vs. the 1.4 million other teams were offering. Is that the reason Smith signed here? Since players generally go for the most money, it's a good bet.
Morey sat on his ASSets or the Rockets assets are severely overrated. Point guards moved: (G)(Z)oran Dragic -> Danny Granger, 2017 first round pick(1-7 protected), 2021 unprotected first round pick Norris Cole (Shawne Williams & Justin Hamilton) -> John Salmons Reggie Jackson -> D.J. Augustin, Kyle Singler and a 2019 2nd round draft pick Brandon Knight (Kendall Marshall) -> Tyler Ennis & Miles Plumlee Kendall Marshall(OUT) (Brandon Knight) -> Tyler Ennis & Miles Plumlee Tyler Ennis (Miles Plumlee) -> Brandon Knight & Kendall Marshall Michael Carter-Williams -> 2015 1st round draft pick(Top 5 protected in 2015; Top 3 protected in 2016 & 2017) Isaiah Thomas -> Marcus Thornton, 2016 first round pick(Top 10 protected) Isaiah Canaan (2015 2nd round draft pick) -> K.J. McDaniels Andre Miller -> Ramon Sessions Ramon Sessions -> Andre Miller Pablo Prigioni -> Alexey Shved, a 2017 2nd round draft pick and a 2019 2nd round draft pick Mo Williams (Troy Daniels & cash) -> Gary Neal and a 2019 2nd round draft pick Austin Rivers -> Chris Douglas-Roberts and a 2017 2nd round draft pick Nate Robinson -> Jameer Nelson Jameer Nelson -> Nate Robinson Jameer Nelson (Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright, a 2015 1st round draft pick and a 2016 2nd round draft pick) -> Rajon Rondo Russ Smith -> Quincy Pondexter and a 2015 2nd round draft pick Rajon Rondo (Dwight Powell) -> Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright, a 2015 1st round draft pick and a 2016 2nd round draft pick Jorge Gutierrez (Andrei Kirilenko, 2020 2nd round draft pick and right to swap 2nd-round picks in 2018) -> Brandon Davies
The only guy worth trading for was Dragic and he made it pretty clear he didnt want to be here, so who cares. We just wait for the next opportunity. Are people seriously upset we didn't get Isaiah Thomas or Brandon Knight? Those guys are not really needle movers.
Either Morey's too deadset on signing Durant or another big name in 2016. Or Dwight's a lot worse healthwise than we thought to the point that we desperately need a second star to replace him. Those, in my mind, are the only two plausible explanations for our relative inaction at the trade deadline. And either one is a serious, serious issue.
Just think if we would have been fortunate to have signed Bosh we could have 2 max players out at the same time., with no assets out for most of the season.
I'd have to know more about Howard's status before I could judge Morey's decision. If they are pretty sure Howard won't be healthy again this year making a big trade for a player they didn't love would have been a mistake.
this is getting so ridiculous on here, fans calling out daryl morey with this pathetic "inactive" call. People here don't understand how hard it is to get trades done. inactive does not mean not being able to get trades done, inactive means not trying to get something done. just look at the Knicks, they traded for the "now" for many seasons and gave away first round picks like they were cupcakes and look where they are now. Morey keeps an eye on the "now" and the "future", you don't just trade your future away because you need a certain piece like Dragic who is over rated. Also you need both teams to agree to a trade. It is all well and good people on here going nuts as usual when things go wrong but people here think it would be easy to do Daryl Morey's job, they think that trades are easy. Inactive is not trying, Daryl Morey is certainly not that, he always looks to try to improve the team now and the future
The silent majority has spoke. Wake up Rockets fan. This board has been dominated by a small but vocal minority of MOFs and some Roclets PR guys for so long. Moreys works for Le$$ and not for the fans. His main goal is not to sell tickets and not win a championship. That next superstar BS can not go on forever.
