At a nonsensical cost. Augustine came back to okc because they had a pg who Detroit super overpaid for. Look at every single pg trade, every single pg got overpaid for except knight due likely to bad Milwaukee management.
Right now Harden is literally the entire team (and the entire reason any player would want to sign with the Rockets), if Morey and co keep waiting around Harden is going to get pissed and leave. If that happens the team is completely doomed. They absolutely cannot wait another season to make something happen.
Morey is not doing great. He and his team are doing OK-- like many other mid-seeded playoff teams. Great is being a title favorite or a realistic contender. The Rockets have roughly 30 to 1 odds to win the title according to the betting sites: http://www.vegasinsider.com/nba/odds/futures/ http://sports.bovada.lv/sports-betting/basketball-futures.jsp There are 30 NBA teams. Having 30 to 1 odds of winning the title isn't "great."
Unhappy dragic in phx was playing pretty bad. I was on board the get dragic bus until he said he was hurt and wouldn't resign blah blah. I would have definitely rented dragic with a healthy Dwight and go all in but again we don't know the dwight situation and renting an unhappy dragic is a waste imo.
Agree. I think Morey did well in his regular season deals this year. No reason to bash him about the trade deadline in particular. I have to view the Dragic situation as PHX either not wanting to trade with us and make us better, or Dragic scared us away with his shortlist of teams he'd resign with.
He got a team with a broken down tmac and soon broken down yao, and got us James harden and dwight with no top 10 picks (rudy gay for batting doesn't fully count because it was the yr yao was healthy so diff situation). I'm pretty sure no gm has gotten more with less in the same time. It has yet to be seen if morey can now turn a talented team he assembled into a title contender but I'm willing to at least give him a shot.
The necessary price? I'd imagine Phoenix would up the price for a team in the West, especially when it needs frontcourt help (DMo). Taking risks is fine, but if we had to give up DMo and count on a healthy Dwight then I'm glad we passed on a possible rental of Dragic. Also, Harden is just entering his prime. Dwight is the one whose clock is ticking loudly.
OK so you just wanted Dragic. I'm guessing the Rockets would have needed to trade DMo, Bev, Papa, Pelicans first, and another first and then pay Dragic the max. Does that sound about right?
When I see a thread started by CH concerning Morey, I read & laugh. His constant negativity towards Morey mutes his comments. Maybe CH should change his initials to CB, cos I'm beginning to think Darrell owes his millions like Les owes Barkley.
If Dwight is healthy, the odds would be different. This merely reflects where the money is going. Goran or no Goran, the Rockets arnt going anywhere without Dwight
One more guy the Rockets could have gotten: Isaiah Thomas. Boston got him for an expiring contract and a likely late 1st round pick (2016 CLE pick, protected).
You know I am starting to feel same way Mr. Herrera. I've been in the bandwagon muray we trust. But I am starting to to have doubts as I see my team struggle with 2 legitimate stars plenty of assets that could've been used to address our weakness at PG spot we clearly could've acquired one of the 5-6 quality PGs that moved around the deadline and what did we acquire some dude that's on his last legs and a "project". This is our window man fack we should be going all in.
Considering EVERYONE he has played with hated him? His past two teams trading him early is a good indication of this as well. You just want ANY reason to bash Morey. Very obvious.
Dwight has been out pretty much all year, so no, you havent seen us struggle with 2 stars this year. Do you people think Dwight has played every in every game this year healthy?
