Two of Morey's favorite players, Cap Flexibility and Asset Collection, are holding the team back. They have not scored a single point or made a single good defensive play, not even in the D-League, and yet Morey refuses to trade them to go all in on this team. This stuff is understandable when you are still looking for that foundation piece, but we have two of those and you still cling to Cap and Asset? When Morey made his summer moves to keep Cap Flexibility happy and increase the role of Asset Collection, he told us that he is "betting on Dwight and James." He told us wait and see what the team will look like after the trade deadline when Cap Flexibility and Asset Collection will fulfill their purpose and be traded for Third Star. The trade deadline has come and gone. Cap and Asset are still on the team and holding them back. We kept them happy by letting Parsons go, and now we are still trying to appease them by refusing to let them go for Goran Dragic. So what now? Are we going to punt 2015 and aim for getting someone in summer 2015 or deadline 2016? Is this betting on our stars? Is Dwight so broken down that it's not worth betting on him any more? Are we to be satisfied with Harden wasting an MVP season exiting the 1st round because we are suppose to watch the development of Cap and Asset? What Pat Riley does is what "betting on your stars" look like. Morey is betting on Cap and Asset over Harden and Howard.
Well Morey got burned badly on Mac and Yao and it likes look it could happen again with Dwight. I'd prefer having a team that's in the mix for the Loves and Durants every year rather than piling up bad contracts in the "all in" scenarios.
Carl, I'll give you some analytics: 0 Championships in 20 years and we are now being asked to wait 2 more years for Durant (whom I'm sure nobody else will go after). Time to subtract 2 individuals from this organization and start over.
-Lock up harden with LOWRY have the best backcourt in NBA with klay/curry -get shooters at 4 & 3 and good role players - then wait for howard to expire or sign for less "pending health" - chase durant. HOW WAS THIS TO HARD TO DO FOR SOMEONE WHO CF MAKES SEEMS LIKE HES THE BEST GM IN THE NBA !!????
Sigh...... It's like you no concept of context. Morey was going to absolutely go all in if Bosh would have signed, so lets just stop that nonsense. If you aren't getting the players you want, then what's the point of settling for players that will only move the needle a little bit? Morey has stated again and again he's not going to make a move that will take us from a 1st round exit to a 2nd round exit. Flexibility got us Josh Smith and Corey Brewer before the tradeline. Some of you older posters should know better.
PGs are a lot easier to find than a player like Bosh who can play 4/5. Hindsight is always 20/20, yes it would be awesome to have a Lowry/Harden backcourt.
You'd have to be a complete idiot to think Morey values flexibility over signing or trading for good pieces.
I'm just telling you what I would've did and most GMS would have, hel bosh wasn't even outt there then it was melo,
For all we know, Dragic told us he wouldn't resign here, thus we kept CFlex and AssCo on the team. Not so sure "we got outbid" is the full story here. And aside from Dragic, it was a rather slow and boring trade deadline throughout the league, no? That said: CFlex and AssCo need to go this summer. Besides, even if Morey makes a mistake, he has proven he can get them back on the team when needed. And the mistake will at least be scoring points.
That's another one of Morey's favorite guys: Anal Ytics, a good guy to have in the front office, but yet another person who overvalue CFlex and AssCo.
Morey won't trade away Cap Flexibility and Asset Collection until a third star is in hand. A Dragic rental with him saying he won't resign does not meet that criteria.
You don't have a clue what most GMs would do, so don't lie. Morey went after the player that he thought was the best fit for the team, just so happened Lowry decided to sign with a different team.
I just hate wasting a way a probable year of Harden's prime just to save assets for future roster improvement. We are not winning a title with this roster.
