no way durant comes here maybe washington im not an insider but i did stay at a holiday inn express last night
He's not the best but he's not the worst. Made some pretty good moves, made some pretty bad moves. How do you judge a GM? The transactions he makes or the success of the team?
We have this team, without any crappy contracts. Dallas looks shrewd this year, but they have that terrible contract of Parsons, and they really look like they're betting the farm on this season.
People believe that because Morey hasnt added "that elite" pg we arent advancing into the 2nd round again, Morey sets the pieces, and pretty damn good ones. Forget the past years this season alone adding Corey Brewer and Josh Smith at a cheap price! I dont wanna hear none about how he just runs the team for flexibility. This is a contending team (CAN I REMIND EVERYONE WE ARE STILL IN 4TH place) At the end of the day these are still paid professional athletes who have to get it done on court, themselves.
Let's see... Morey failed to sign LeBron, Bosh, Love, Dragic, Lowry (2nd time)... Maurey, you're a failure! /sarcasm I'm still wondering what will it take to give @daryldmoreys the GM of the year award. I get that Rockets does not have much playoff success, but that's on the coach and players. GM's job is filling the roster and stuff, and Morey is doing a heck of a job.
Rockets added another wing with great potential. People are complaining about trading away I. Cannon. But it seems the young talent they got in return is more intriguing. Also the Rockets got a competent ball handler, who has point guard instinct, and can flat out shoot the ball. Dwight, D-Mo, T-Jones, Dorsey D-Mo, J-Smooth, T-Jones Ariza, Brewer, Papanikalous Harden, Terry, McDaniels Beverly, Prigioni, Terry D-League: Capella, Johnson I think the moves do two things. They bring in a legit back up point guard. That way Terry and McDaniels can share duties backing up Harden. Team is stronger today than before the all-star break. Of course not leap and bound better, but slightly better.
Morey turned a 14th round pick franchise into a contender. I tip my hat to you good sir. Thank you for your endless nights and hard work.
I'll let rresults do the talking. One playoff win in 7 seven seasons. I understand the circumstances and all but I'm not ready to knight him. Also he has his fair share of blemishes just like every other GM. Drafting busty Morris ahead of Kawhi Leonard, drafting friggin Be Well Royce White. Overall a good GM on paper but doesn't have sustained playoff success yet.
I'm sorry, but while I appreciate how he kept us afloat in 2008-2012, got us in position to get Harden, has bought picks, traded like crazy and gambled on players while maintaining flexibility is admirable, not doing anything to help us win now is just inexcusable. With all the PGs that got traded and big men available, not using the NOP pick among other things, suggest we are not in win now mode. That is the biggest problem I have with Morey, while it's great to think long term when you're far from a contender, it is just plain stupid to think long term when you're supposed to be in win-now mode.
100% agree. I think we have a solid GM who's had some great moves with some horrible ones. So I think it's a little insulting to label him some type of genius over other GM's with better team success.
We have only been out of the first round once in over twenty years. During that time we have been to the lottery eight times. Morey is not blame for all that, but results matter. I don't trust his basketball instincts. He is primarily a financial "bean counter." Outside of the Harden deal, which was a stroke of genius and luck, I think the jury is still out if he can put together the players and coaching staff that can bring back a true contender. Rocket's fans have been conditioned to be excited about "Les."
What exactly were his horrible moves? Only one I can think of is taking Marcus Morris over Khawi Leonard.
Moray biggest weakness his talk a lot about his ability to find talents, that's somehow true but other GMs don't feel comfortable anymore making a deal with him.
I don't blame Barkley for hating on Morey either, the guy has a big ego, is way too much out there on twitter, has a big mouth and talks a lot of crap when the results are still not there. DM needs to take it down a notch and people should stop claiming he's a genius. Yes he's good, but analytics and his talk have not done well for us when it comes to playing style, coaching or players. Harden and Howard are great regardless of analytics, Josh Smith is horrible analytic wise, Brewer not that much better etc. We will never win a championship with this free flow, 3pt shooting offense under McHale.
