That's a pretty solid haul for hinkie. Real good pick and canaan can play. But I suppose we can only stash so many guys overseas and win so many D-league championships. Knicks picks vastly more valuable.

Physically, he's a stud. But he's not a good shooter. I think McHale will give him some minutes and see what he's got. But the bench is gonna have to produce all their points from slashing to the hoop, scoring off turnovers, and running on the break, cuz the outside shooting is gonna be horrendous. We'll be relying on Smith, Brewer, and Terry(who's been in a slump) to knock down those 3-pointers. Scary.

If you trade for a guy lime this, you better find a way to lock him up without it costing you shots at other players. The problem with all of this is that the Rockets marginally upgraded the bench but only have the two picks with which to makes moves in the next draft. I am hoping Morey has knowledge of players getting bought out that we can go after.

The window remains open, but star level reinformcement isn't coming until the summer of 2016. The Rockets will need Capela and Nick to grow into legit rotation players in the off-season, they need to hit on their draft picks, find a way to bring over Sergio and/or keep McDaniels/Smith/Brewer, and hope Dwight can give them a season where he would be smart to opt-out.

If McDaniel could shoot, he'd be a starter on the majority of teams in the league. Unfortunately, he no shooty good.

Does anyone know where to get good advanced shooting stats?
I know Basketball Reference has shooting stats. They say for example that McDaniel was assisted on 42 of his 43 makes, so basically all. But I can't tell what the assist % is on his total attempts.

Cause MAYBE his three point percentage is decent when he is being assisted and getting open looks, but he just jacks too many off the dribble shots he shouldn't be taking.

Would like to see this info as well. He seems to have a good shooting stroke and I am sure he is a better spot up shooter than off the dribble. Probably had no room in Philly to operate. Probably didn't take too many efficient shots especially as the season has gone on. I really think Morey thinks this kid will be starting caliber 2 way player in 1-3 years depending on how hard he works and develops a 3 ball.

From briefly looking into his scouting report, he looks like a SF.

    6'6" tall
    Almost 7' wingspan
    37" vert
    Elite defense
Fastest 3/4 split in the draft
ambidextrous (dunks with left, shoots with right)

Looks like he could replace Brewer next season, and Ariza soon after.

haven't watched KJ enough to know whether or not this was a good deal (seems like a more athletic Brewer)...but Canaan was on a rookie scale contract and showed some talent. This kid may be talented but he's a free agent. So did we just give Philly two 2nds and a young prospect for 20 games of a kid who won't get off the bench and leave us for nothing this offseason?

this trade doesn't make sense if we arent planning on bringing KJ back, right?
