the no trade clause is off the table . What Morey can gamble on is the extra year WITH max. This isn't a bad gamble imo..becaue we are talking about extra 20 millions. But I don't like it from the Rocket's future perspective- unless a championship.
LOL. I'd take Darren Collison off of SacTown's hands so that they can get Goran Dragic. That idiot owner don't know anything about basketball.
You said stick it as in get a MAX deal, no discounts, hopefully this still applies, I think Dragic wants to come here but doesn't want the media to know that, Harden and he were awfully chummy for him to want to use him.
Make the trade... See if Gogi wants to stick it to us after a possible title run. If he does, it was worth the risk.
Now that several other teams are offering more than us, it is sadly time to back out and go with a quieter deal like Lawson. We can't even get him for TJones and a first anymore. We will have to overpay and can't do that.
...Except that this isn't about sticking it to the Rockets. It's about money (he wants a MAX) , and being the head of the show. Woj mentioned worry about being traded by the Rockets, but even that sounds like speculation.
You are right, but if a guy doesn't want to play here I think it is best to just move on. I know people will say "Well, if we are only losing Jones/Kpap." True, but who knows, T.Jones isn't that far removed from being a 15 and 7 player and Kpap is rookie, what if during the offseason these are players that could be traded for a better player or opportunity? Also, the fact that Dragic wants to play for the Knicks is a huge red flag for me. Knicks are where foolish players go to watch their careers fade away into irrelevancy. I don't want to stop a player from going there, I just want to pat them on the back and say "Good luck to ya!"
Morey just needs to get the deal done... then the ball will be in Dragic's court. 5 year max (we dont need to offer no trade clause because no team will be able to give a 5th year) or a 4 year max elsewhere. If he decides to walk he wasn't worth it and we will have the money to retool going forward. I believe our playoff success will determine everything
There was a difference in the context and tenor of Goran sticking it to the Rockets this past offseason and what is being reported now. In the offseason, it was just no discounts would be offered to Houston, they'd have to pay full freight. This has turned into him reportedly now not wanting to sign here under any circumstances. Either way, he really isn't sticking it to the Rockets, because he isn't a Rockets player and other options exist. I love Dragic and want him to be a Rocket but if he was that good, he would have led the Suns to the playoffs by now.
