Devin Smith, WR from Ohio State:

At the Senior Bowl, Smith told WalterFootball.com that the Dolphins and Texans had shown the most interest in him. Houston could use a vertical receiver to pair with DeAndre Hopkins. Miami also looks poised to move on from Mike Wallace, so Smith could be a replacement.

The only reason the Colts schedule is easier? They play the Texans, and the Texans have to play the Colts!

Its also a grab-bag of NFC south teams that have to play each other, and the Texans/Colts will play all of them next year as well.

I'm sure some of that is the case, getting the play the Jags and Titans for 4 games is a huge advantage along with getting to play the Jets, Falcons, Bucs, Bills, Dolphins, and the inconsistent Saints and Steelers.

The Texans also get the Jags and Titans for 4 games along with the Jets, Bucs, Saints, Bills, Dolphins, Falcons, and Bengals.

Both the Texans and Colts could get 9 wins without beating any good teams at all.

Credit to the training staff. They keep the players protected.

Some good news for us Texans fans about Kareem Jackson:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/houston-texans/post/_/id/10040/future-uncertain-kareem-jackson-would-love-to-be-back?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Quote from Kareem, "I’d love to be back here. What Coach O'Brien has brought here with the coaches and stuff like that, with the system and stuff like that, I definitely want to be a part of what’s starting to happen last year and progressing into the future."

Even if you don't think the guy is worth keeping, you have to admire his character for wanting to stay in Houston.

I imagine there are some Texans fans being so used to crap CB play that they do not want to have anything to do with Kareem Jackson.

Free agent CB Kareem Jackson told SiriusXM NFL Radio that he would prefer if the Texans didn't assign him the franchise tag.

Jackson must have a pretty vivid imagination if he thinks the Texans would pony up $13 million just to keep him off the market. That's Darrelle Revis money. With that said, Jackson has played well in Houston and hashing out a long-term deal would make sense for both sides. The Alabama alum has recorded ten interceptions since entering the league in 2010.

Texans not likely to break bank or use franchise tag on Kareem Jackson

The Texans have nine players who’ll be unrestricted if they don’t agree to new deals before free agency begins: Jackson, quarterback Ryan Mallett, offensive tackle Derek Newton, outside linebacker Brooks Reed, free safety Kendrick Lewis, inside linebacker Akeem Dent, defensive end Tim Jamison, nose tackle Ryan Pickett and safety Danieal Manning.

Jackson is expected to command the most lucrative contract if he’s allowed to hit the open market.

At 26, he’s a five-year starter who’s been paired with Johnathan Joseph for the last four seasons. The Texans have every intention of keeping them together. But there are teams such as Oakland, Jacksonville, Tennessee and the New York Jets – not to mention playoff teams like Cincinnati and Indianapolis – whose cap cups runneth over with tens of millions to spend.

If the Texans are unable to keep Jackson, replacing him will become their top priority in free agency or the draft.

Other than signing Jackson to a new deal, the only way to keep him would be to use the franchise tag on him, guaranteeing him a one-year deal for $13.05 million. That’s not going to happen, though.

    It’s deal or no deal.

If the salary cap is at least $142 million, as most project, the Texans will be about $10 million under.

Read: Texans planing on letting Kareem Jackson walk in free agency and signing Zac "cost effective" Diles to replace him.

CB just became our #1 need in the draft.

Smith calling Primetime right now to replace Kareem.

I think OB knows what hes doing. Kareem is good but pretty much a run of the mill corner. No sense in ponying up any big money for him

I honestly don't think there is a huge market for jackson. He is a good not great #2 corner with slow foot speed. I don't think anyone is gonna be paying him outlandish money

Why is it that players like Jackson become good players and we let em walk? Is this all on Smith not managing the cap? Its not like this team is full of high dollar talent.
