Wasn't Brewer supposed to do some charity dinner for the Wolves on a Saturday but was traded on the Friday before?

Not saying we should trade Dmo but promotional stuff like this matters little when trades can happen.

Instead he would just sign a shorter deal and become a free agent again when the cap blows up.

Good points. All this refreshing my browser while doing actual work too is making me lose my brain so I don't think rationally.

The examples y'all keep giving are of other teams--not DM's Houston Rockets.

Not a bad question though. If Dragic insists on a one year deal teams won't pay him as much, I'm sure

Dragic's career earnings after tax is about $15m, Lebron's is about $300m (with hundreds of millions in guaranteed endorsements still in play) at this point. For Lebron, power was more important than money.

Morey and Phx are playing a game of chicken. Morey doesnt want to include DMo and is betting no one else offers more, so he is standing his ground. Hopefully Morey wins lol

Looking at the list of promotions, there's a Bev bobblehead night in April? Other than that, on the calendar, nothing about a DMo promotion?

    This promo was strategically placed.

I find it interesting, because if he did do that, hoping to hold out for a max, I don't think that he's a max player under the new cap (whatever that may be). I really wouldn't be too concerned giving him a max under the current CBA so it'll be interesting to see if he does try that tactic (whatever team he ends up with).

    "done so much for us"
    Meaning..
    1. He's our most improved player
    2. Saved the team when we were a hospital
    3. #2 Option on offense

These kids flame me for wanting Donatas to stay but I guess it makes sense to them to patch a small hole by creating an even bigger one.

Exactly. Which would make this promotional stuff matter even less.

I don't want to trade DMo. But promotional things like this really don't matter in the realm of potential trades.

If the Pelicans offer Davis for Dmo straight up, do you think Morey is going say "Nah, Dmo has this free throw thing coming up...Maybe in the offseason?"

    I'm with Morey
DMo+NOP pick is too much for Dragic

Yeah I agree it's not worth it for him to do that. He won't really be worth max money under the new CBA. If a team offers him a max under the current CBA, that's about as much as he could expect (and may be a bit overpaid)

I'm not trying to compare them at all. Just saying if Gogi wants to gamble on getting a better contract with the cap increase, he can do better than his 8m player option by taking a 1+1 deal.

Goran Dragic wants out of Phoenix.

According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the representatives for the Suns point guard told team officials in a Tuesday meeting that he has no plans to re-sign in Phoenix this summer as a free agent.

With the Thursday trade deadline looming and the clear message now sent that Dragic plans on playing elsewhere next season, it remains to be seen if Suns general manager Ryan McDonough will succumb to the pressure and agree to a deal. The people spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

After having a career year in the 2013-14 campaign (20.3 points, 5.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 35.1 minutes per game) while playing alongside Eric Bledsoe, Dragic has seen his role decreased by the addition of point guard Isaiah Thomas via free agency last summer.

The three-point-guard approach has worked well for Phoenix (29-25) at times, but the Suns lost seven of their past 10 games entering the All-Star break and Dragic appears ready to move on.

The main issue, according to one of the people, is that Dragic wants to run his own team with the kind of freedom and support given to someone like Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. The decrease in production this season, as he sees it, is directly tied to the decrease in time spent as the lead-guard with the host of ballhandlers that surround him. Dragic is averaging 16.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 33.4 minutes per game this season.

While the Suns could trade Thomas as a way to relieve the obvious pressure in this point guard dynamic, it appears that Dragic does not want to return even if a move like that was made. The Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers are known to be among the teams pursuing him, and that list of serious suitors is believed to be seven or eight teams long.

Any team that trades for Dragic would certainly want to know whether he's willing to sign with them this summer before doing a deal, as the prospect of giving up the necessary assets only to lose him in the summertime is certainly not tenable. Dragic would strongly prefer to play for a playoff contender.
