Goran Dragic cannot sign an extension this season anywhere he's traded. That's not accurate, when you trade for a player, you trade for their contract and you inherit their Bird rights.
I think that's a little unfair. He left us to go back to Phoenix before we landed Harden. The Rockets were looking like a surefire lotto team at that point. At worst, he can be accused of making a lateral move in terms of the standings, but with an extra year and player option tacked onto his deal. I'd say for him personally and careerwise, it was the right decision at the time.
We have to see who BBhollics has in his sig to really know who is on the market... ....... ....... .......
I'm fully aware of that. I'm asking if anyone can validate his claim that cyberx himself said months ago that the Suns wanted D-Mo / the NOP pick .
I don't think anyone believes Jones will ever be an All-Star. But he can be a serviceable 15 and 7 player. A solid backup big man in the rotation. But he may not be what Phoenix is looking for right now.
Fair enough, either way the tweet is misleading. Who cares about not being able to give him an extension when you can give him a 5 year new deal? The tweet makes it seem like you wouldn't be able to keep him and that's simply not true.
That "storm of the year" business and "steal your cold" (or whatever it was) that Doc posted. Storm of the year could just be hyperbole of some sort; or is Daryl after Boston's Marcus Smart (provided we relieve the Celtics of a bad contract)? Lawson or somebody complained of cold in Denver, I think... Two days left. F5'in' like a maggot farmer.
Morey would trade D-Mo if not for the uncertainty with Howard. I think it's McHale who's vehemently opposed to trading D-Mo. Of course Phoenix wants D-Mo and the pick. I want Lebron. Not going to happen. If Phoenix trades, it's going to be for the best deal out there because the only reason they'd trade is if they felt they will lose him for nothing. There is not going to be a circumstance under which Phoenix is deciding between a good trade or keeping him long term. If Dragic does not commit to any NBA team, then no one is going to make them a better offer than T Jones, K-Pap and NOLA pick. That's a hell of a haul for someone they're losing. What else can be offered? Lance Stephenson and a pick? Kanter and Burke? Come on.
It is accurate. He cannot sign anything "THIS SEASON"-- i.e., the 2014-15 season. He can only sign a new contract or a contract extension after THIS SEASON ends and the 2015-16 season starts on July 1st. With or without Bird Rights, Goran is not allowed to make a long-term commitment until July 1st. If he gets to July 1st, this means that his incentives would be to look at all of his options. Thus, whoever holds his rights at that point, whether PHX, HOU or any other team, has a risk of losing him for nothing in return.
I'd much rather have Isaiah. He may be too small to play defense, but he's pretty electric on offense (he'd probably have to be the 6th man). He reminds me of AB. I would like him to be a better 3 point shooter though (36.5% is solid, but for an undersized guy I'd like that percentage to be higher).
Ah, well I thought that was assumed all along. Another reason why Gogi's trade value is A LOT lower than what the leaks suggest the Suns are looking for.
