Dragic is old and he costs too much. Ty Lawson at 27 is close to Harden's age at 26, you can the NBA's best backcourt for a while but In Dragic's case, you window is just 4 years before he becomes washed up at 33 or so.

The Rox barely have a system anyway, and with Lawsons' set of skills I don't know why you think he won't be able to adapt to it as easily as Dragic does.

Of course all these are hypothetical but IMHO I'd be more willing to give up DMO for a foundational piece like Lawson then for a stricly "win now" move in Dragic.

Isn't Dragic just a year older at 28? I will admit, I am a Dragic fan so there is bias here. I also consider him more readily available. With Nuggets be willing to give up Lawson? I also for one reason or another, have come to view Lawson as a knucklehead.

Not going to lie. I love the security of Lawsons contract, and I don't see where the production would be that much better on both ends with Dragic (although I love the guy). What has me scratching my head in wonder though is Clutch's comments the other day about what he's heard about the Rockets actually not being that high on Ty.

You look at their production and a few things to consider-

-Lawson is by far the better facilitator. Dragic is definitely looking to get his own shot more. Lawson is tied for league leader in assists right now. That's crazy good for this team to acquire.... someone that can get BETTER SHOTS for others rather than just get shots for himself.

-Lawson isn't a knock down shooter but he seems very consistent while Goran is streaky in a good way sometimes, but can go on droughts from long distance.
-Dragic is really an insane finisher around the rim. Truly elite (def. a Morey gold star award winner).
-Dragic is going to be overpaid on the Rockets next year if resigned (smaller role playing next to Harden).
-Neither are great defensive PG's, but Goran has more size to defend 2's.

I mean.. its a tough one, but I find it hard to not go with Lawson given the contract, and the need for a real PG that can actually GET HARDEN BETTER SHOTS, rather than just TAKE AWAY SHOTS which is a real possibility to get max production from Dragic to make him worthy of a huge contract.

But.... obviously there is something we don't know about how Morey views Lawson that would put that bug in Clutch's ear. There is obviously something to that.

But Lawson is a better overrall point guard. When Dragic is not hitting his shots, he's basically ineffective. Lawson on the other hand gets others involved better than anybody in the NBA. He also scores at the same level. Who's the better fit for us? It's not close imo

    Ty> Dragic

Don't mean to sound rude here, but have you seen Dragic play outside of the few times against us and his highlight reel, because you cannot be more wrong about the Dragon. He is NOT Aaron Brooks. Dragic is a stronger finisher once he closes in on the rim, which he does a lot when he is the primary scorer and his shot is not falling, much more than Lawson and at a much higher success rater too. Lawson is a better shooter on his end and shoots more midrange jumpers than Dragic. Lawson is a slightly better passing PG and shooter, but Goran is a better scorer with proven adaptability playing off ball in Phoenix, which is critical in Houston.

Both PG's will fit on our team, but then the question becomes AVAILABILITY. I know that the concept of trades is a difficult one for a lot of armchair GM's to try and understand, but real life does not work like a video game. BOTH sides have to agree to a trade to make it happen. Currently, the Suns are much more willing to part with Dragic, because they are at risk to lose him for nothing after this season. Nuggets on the other hand, have a much wider window to deal Lawson if they so choose, which does not go well with our rapidly closing window.

Either way, I still believe Dragic is a much better choice for us. He is a good shooter, a very strong finisher, great passer when needed to be, knows how to play off guard, and has played for McHale before and LIKES him.

Like Dobro, I'm tempted to say Lawson because of his contract. Lawson's cheaper deal versus the unknown (near max or max?), but definitely more expensive cost of what it would take to sign Dragic this summer, my assumption being that he agrees to re-up with the Rocks if he's traded here. Still, I'd rather have Dragic, being far more familiar with his game (which would be a huge plus for Houston) than I am with Lawson's. And why would Denver deal Lawson anyway? I don't get it.

I don't care how much any of them cost. I am not the owner.

There is a limit on how much a team can spend on players. It's called a "salary cap".

A.B for a minimum would be a better value Vs. I.T

If Cannan had enough PT , we might not be looking for another PG at all

Lawson is a better player than Dragic.

Edit: I'm convinced some of you have never seen Lawson play. The guy is arguably the best facilitator in the NBA. He would create so many good looks for himself and others and relieve pressure off of Harden.

Conversely, I'm not sure if Lawson is available, but I bet he would be for the right package.

We're going to be maxed out on the cap anyways.

We would have overpaid for Parsons if we got Bosh. This will be the same situation. We will overpay Dragic or Lawson if they complete the team.

Lawson will mean the return of last year's Harden on defense. He's not the right fit for this team.

I will not give up DMo to get Dragic. That is the catch. I'd rather give up TJones.
