it's funny. yesterday they were adamant about keeping dragic at all costs. then it's turned into "okay we aren't going to trade him but if we did...THIS is what we would want!" soon it will be "fine....we will trade him for your broken washing machine and kostas"
dragic was an all-nba player last season which is more impressive than an all-star but still to ask for a potential all-star and a pick (which no doubt would be a first round) for a potential rental is pure pipe dream for the suns. Boston got less for Rondo who despite his shooting woes is a better player than Dragic. See the going rate for a disgruntled star thats going to be a FA. Not many times are going to line up to give up anything of value for a rental. Unless Duffy and Dragic say we'll resign for sure with your team then a team may up their offer to ensure a deal. I feel that if the Suns do play hardball with their "requirements" to listen it will just further upset Dragic and the Suns may as well start have their players start drawing numbers on who would get his locker next season
So the Suns want DMo and the NO pick to start with. this thing about resigning Dragic is nothing but a bluff. I would think that Morey isnt budging, and Phoenix is getting irritated. But no way that Phoenix gives Dragic a Max contract. Dragic is a star player, just not an allstar calibur player (fringe allstar at best). For the Rocket Dragic can put them on a level field to be considered bonafide title contenders. I wonder if Phoenix will make Morey blink for the first time in a trade. Josh Smith helps at the 4, but is too small to play Center for long periods of time. TJones isnt a good option at the 5 either. And Dorsey is only good for 10 to 15 minutes. And Howard is out injured. I am sure Morey has the Phoenix counter offer.
Potential is the key word, and I think the Rockets do value him that highly. Althoguh he hasn't succeeded yet in the NBA, he has the raw tools to be a special player. Whether other teams hold that same opinion, I doubt they hold their opinions out as such, only because he has struggled when he's played. But the kid is 20 and still putting it together.
Beverley and Papa competed All-Star weekend. There ya go Suns, those two All-stars for Dragic. Done deal.
Plus it's not even about what the Suns want, as far as Dragic. Dragic has to want to be there. He's always wanted to be the man; everyone seems to underestimate that. I think it's almost as big of a factor as the money for him. I can't see him wanting to commit to that crowded backcourt. The Suns lost Dragic when they locked up IT and Bledsoe.
He definitely wouldn't be the man here either which makes me nervous about him resigning if he does come. That is why I wouldn't give up DMO or anything else substantial in this deal.
When you have a FG Watch thread, chances are you're headed the wrong way. He does beast it in the dleague though
Suns holding hope that Cousins could become available. Would love to send Dragic that way for Cousins. Just got that in.
