Season 1 was really really good. Season 2 was decent but a bit convoluted. Season 3 begins in April I think. There are threads on here for each season - Do check out the show.

    Seriously?

This is starting to remind me of True Detective, where everybody pointed out every little obscure thing that may or may not have been able to be potentially something... and in the end, the writer said those things were there randomly, or that maybe things were placed subconsciously.

With this show, I doubt Gilligan will be going that far out of his way to put Breaking Bad references/easter eggs in every episode... unless it somehow ties into building up the current story (and in BCS, the cadillac reference is the only direct callback that warrants mentioning... it also helps build up Saul/Jimmy's lack of success).

Yeah, I'm choosing not to spend the whole show looking for illusions and parallels. The similarities are there, but this show is looking like it can stand on its own two feet.

That's where I'd seen him, I couldn't place him during the first 2 episodes.

Agreed... of course there are going to be similarities. Its written/created by the same exact person.

If you look at a lot of posts written around here, you can somewhat tell who is writing them just based on their style/references/sometimes they even make the same jokes.

Gilligan will likely use some similar plot-twists, story-telling devices, and create some characters very similar to breaking bad simply because he didn't get a brain transplant between the series.

Finally watched the 2nd episode. It really picked up after a somewhat slow pilot episode.

I'm not going to spend any time looking for BB easter eggs. I'm just going to enjoy the show for what it is. I don't want to miss anything while looking for a hat and jacket in the background.

I really liked that Saul decided to save the 2 skateboarders. He could have just left and never looked back but that would have been too predictable and done nothing to develop his character. Great writing, as usual.

I also really liked the 'day in the life' montage (with the coffee machine, etc.). "Showtime!"

I think I'm really going to like this show. It will be cool to not be a year behind like I usually am for these shows that everyone always talks about.

Yes! The whole negotiations scene had me dying. I want more Tuco, hes been great sp far. And that other mexican guy is cool too.

I didn't think this show would work, but its working. Maybe its because im a breaking bad nut and this fills that void, i don't care because im hooked.

It's like being a fan of Stanley Kubricks' movies. You may not prefer historical movies, but you'd probably appreciate Barry Lyndon b/c he brings certain style things to it like 2001 or Dr. Strangelove. I was hooked back with the X files, then of course BB- so this is along the lines of "at the least, it will be interesting."

I think the style started with his work on the X-Files:

And that was the first connection with Cranston, as Gilligan wrote this X-Files episode:

I am waiting for new characters. Vic the Dick is too much of a smooth criminal to get me interested. And not flawed enough. Well I will wait it out.

3 in and it has a lot more of a BB feel to it than I ever expected it would.

I thought the camping in the desert was silly. But I still love the show so far.

I'm enjoying it. I guess it's too early, but it's not overly compelling right now, but it's just fun to watch so far. That's enough for me.
