If IT and Plumlee can be had for the combo of K-Pap, Capella, and Caanan plus maybe a 2nd rounder, you make that trade. It increases depth and allows you to dangle Terry, Shved, and other picks for another 3 and D wing like Affalo or to go after a big man like Kanter. The Rockets really need to approach this deadline as though Dwight won't be back and create more depth to take the load off of Harden. If the Rockets had a guarantee of a healthy Dwight for the playoffs, then acquiring Dragic would be ideal. The flexibility the Rockets created this past Summer effectively expires on Feb. 19 because the expiring contracts won't be enough to open the cap space to be players for upcoming free agents.
Agreed. I don't understand why people (coughJOPATcough) are so concerned with IT's contract - it's actually quite palatable. I'd MUCH rather have IT & Ariza at $7.5 MM with 2 years left each to deal in the event of Durant than Dragic and $20 MM with 4 years left. IT would be a HUGE boost as the 6th man for this team. No more stagnant O when Harden sits.
I like what you bring to the BBS, but despite the Lakers GM's incompetence I still think this "20 million dollar offer" is that organization leaking misinformation to Stein, who's more than glad to help deter the Rockets or force them into an overpay. Hell, Stein even compounded the b.s. with a report stating Dragic wouldn't be the starter here. He might as well have turned to say to the person off-camera, "How was that, Cubes?" The Lakers are masters at this stuff. Scare away other teams. Happened with Randle at last year's draft. Dragic will be paid. Whether he winds up with the Lakers at 20 million per year....well, the richer teams do make gigantic overpays that they later regret.
The market has already been set for a good (but not great) point guard on an expiring contract. Rondo went for: 1) protected 1st (from Dallas) 2) a 2nd rounder in 2016 3) Wright (who was flipped for what amounts to 2 mid-2nd round picks in 2017 and 2018) 4) Nelson (who was flipped for Nate Robinson, who was bought out. Essentially trade filler) 5) Crowder (decent player, but ultimately just trade filler) I'll admit that Dragic probably has more value around the league than Rondo, but they are not so far apart that we can't use Rondo as a reasonable template for a potential Dragic trade. Considering this.... 1) NOP pick > Dallas pick 2) Either of NYK or DEN 2nd round picks > Dallas 2016 2nd 3) Wright = future Portland 2nds 4) Nelson/Crowder = Papanikolaou/Shved/etc. I don't see us giving up more than the NOP pick, a 2nd round pick, Papanikolaou, Shved, and maybe the rights to Sergio Llull. I seriously doubt DMo is on the table unless there is something else of value coming back to us.

1. Pels Pick 2. Second Rounder or Nick Johnson 3. T.Jones 4. Pap That'd be a heavy end deal, but we wouldn't loose on winning now with that. Also we'd still have Canaan and our D-League monster to grow..
In the scenario where you get IT for cheap and then use other pieces for another wing or big man upgrade, you roll with Harden as your dominant ball-handler. The teams needs more people that can create off the bench and that can shoot and hit threes in bunches. This team was close to unstoppable when Ariza was hitting threes early in the season and nearly beat a Dubs squad without Dwight. Everyone likes to talk about how the game slows down in the playoffs so having more shooting can be the great equalizer. Aldridge killed the Rockets last year but the dagger was the Blazers out shooting the Rockets in their 4 wins. The Spurs won the title last year because they outshot everybody and they didn't even get in to slow down basketball. Speaking of playoff basketball, how many teams besides Memphis are true grind it out teams? The Spurs, Blazers, and Clippers can go to grind out mode but are better when they are playing uptempo. When you are playing uptempo, you need 3 and D wings and at least one playmaker. A bench of Brewer/Smith/ITor Bev/Someone like Affalo/Someone like Plumlee could wreak havoc and score in bunches.
What? Where is this thought process coming from? Isaiah Thomas isn't Nate Robinson, Thomas can pass. He. Is a well rounded point, he averaged more assist then every bodies beloved Dragic last year. Some of you guys get stuck on stupid when y'all start mimicking others on **** y'all have never even looked into.
I prefer Dragic. But if IT is what we can get Id do it! People are worried about his contract but you gotta remember this is the same Morey who moved Lin's 15 million dollar contract! And Asiks! I'm sure Morey could EASILY flip IT if he really had to.
Yeah well it's not only the leak. It's the actual cap raise that make the leak believable and even logical (from the Lakers standpoint) With the new cap going to 90 million role players will be paid around 10-12 i.e Dragic will get paid 20 and it will be a good deal as insane as it sounds.
The leak could have been by Dragic's camp too to scare away teams where he might not want to be traded (i.e. holding his bird rights). If anything, this forces his value down in a trade and could be why the Suns are pushing IT because the fallout from capitulating on a Dragic deal would be far worse than getting "meh" assets in return for IT.
Sure, Thomas probably CAN pass, but he's not a very willing passer. Ask a Suns fan about it, they'll cue you in.
I'd rather just listen to what his coach and other players....those actually in the locker room....have to say about him. None say he was a cancer. All say the opposite.
It's funny. Everyone said similar things about Josh Smith. IT's role for that Suns team is instant offense off the bench. Coaches push most backup scoring PGs to shoot ALOT. Look at Patty Mills and before him, Gary Neal. Yes he shoots a lot, but Pop pushes him to!

Thomas is an Aaron Brooks type. Can shoot it well and get a couple assists along the way. I think most concerns are on his defense.
