I remember he gave a million bucks to tornado relief charity in OK. There's good in him. Hope the good wins!

He's right, most of the media is garbage. They're more professional gossipers than journalists.

Actually the name "Air Jordan" is credited to Jordan's agent.... Falk.

Vescey was also a beat writer for years.

If I was a pro athlete, I'd urinate at the feet of reporters.

But... I sell paper clips. And have to polish the testicles of potential clients.

If there's one superstar in the NBA who doesn't take what he has for granted, I think it's Durant (not that others necessarily do).

He's right that media coverage in the NBA [and most pro sports] is garbage. I wish players didn't have to talk to these guys. It's such a ****ing waste of time. Nothing good can ever come of it as a player. At best it's neutral, and at worst, the media finds some way to spin controversy or negativity out of something they said. Every pre/post game interview or presser is a bunch of redundant, hackneyed, innocuous garbage.

Falk named the Nike shoe campaign, Vecsey used it as Micheal's nickname.

I never said he wasn't a beat writer, but while we are correcting one another, consider this: when introducing an ellipsis, you do so like this: "Jordan's agent...Falk," and not like this: "Jordan's agent.... Falk."

I suspect that, using the ellipsis the correct way, you realized it made little sense, what are you omitting and why?

Also, the only acceptable reason to use this construction "...." is when it comes at the end of a sentence with omitted material. For "dramatic effect," better off by introducing an em dash, like so: "Jordan's agent--falk."

Here we go again with the trolls taking the medias side and Durant should feel privileged to talk these clowns. Media obligations are a joke, sure its part of his job I guess but what a giant waste of time.

Haha. Yeah, let's screw the media!

Wait... what, the media is the sole reason we are multimillionaires playing a sport... derhhhh

I have no issues with certain folks not being good in front of the media. Ricky Williams, Lynch... this isn't for everyone.

But I'm not sure what KD is so angry about here??

I personally don't like it when players act like a dick to media. He's not a ******* soldier or whatever, at the end of day Kevin Durant is an entertainer, he's getting paid the big bucks to entertain people so I think showing up to reporters is part of his duty. He's making 20M a year it's the least he could do.

I mean everybody gets on DH's grill for being immature, but in a lot of ways he is way more mature than KD esp. when it comes to dealing with media. I mean KD treats Media like trash but Media is the reason he's earning so much money, how much is his shoe deal with nike again? If he cancels his shoe contract and all his endorsements, then eh can **** on media as much as he likes. But I think he's a child taking all the benefits of media but then not dealing with downsides of media, esp. when it's something as simple as talking to reporters.

While what Durant said about the media has a lot of truth in it, I agree with those who pointed out that a big part of why they are making so much money is the media. So you'd have to take the bad with the good.

And the only reason people in the media covering sports have jobs is because of us fans. Therefore, I'm sick and tired of the media collectively banding together with pitchforks and lanterns every time an athlete spurns them. Newsflash members of the media -- us fans don't give a **** when athletes don't like you, so get over it and stop talking about it because nobody cares. Us fans are supposed to dictate what you cover, not vice versa.

Durant could piss in Craig Ackerman's coffee, I don't care, it doesn't impact me as a fan, don't talk about it ad nauseam.

It IS an inconvenience. How would you like people who have no clue what you do asking you stupid questions, every day, and then taking what you said and turning it against you? It would be so bad if they weren't all idiots...but they are.

Parcells was the master of this. He figured out how to take it and have fun with it, while still letting them know they don't have a clue. But I think I'd be more with KD...I can't stand clueless people questioning what I do.

COMPLETELY agree! There are lots of athletes the media labels as 'bad guys' purely because they don't put up with their crap. Too many of them have a wholier than thou attitude about their jobs. They're just sports jockeys. Yes, they have a job to do, and athletes should recognize that...but by and large that job is stupid and irrelevant. The only real benefit I get out of 99% of sports reporting is a little fun pointing out how completely ridiculous what they are saying is.

Do they? I think more of them detract from it. Unless you think the NBA is actually a proponent of clueless, inane, irrelevant reporting?

I agree with Durant about the media, but I don't understand why he is the one lashing out at the media. Talent aside, the media has made Durant into who is now. The media was hyping the good boy image since he has been in the league and it has gotten him a lot, huge Nike contract, MVP, adulation of millions. Remember it took us damn near 3 years to find out Durant had chest tattoos.

Durant is making a mistake. I can understand him wanting to be himself (a jack-ass?). How ironic that he has been calling people fake, but he was just as fake as they were.

The media will drive a bad narrative until your image is destroyed. Look at Harden and Dwight. Fight with the media if you want to Durant. It's better just to keep it moving.
