There is a real problem with the idea that Dragic's situation in Phoenix provides any insight into what would happen if he played with James Harden. It's called Isaiah Thomas. He's the primary ball handler when Bledsoe sits. He has the ball in his hand more than Dragic despite playing almost 8 fewer minutes. The Suns have only played 119 minutes without Bledsoe or Thomas.

So far this season, Beverley has had the ball in his hands more than Dragic. again in fewer minutes. Jeremy Lin last season had the ball in his hands almost as much as Dragic does this year.

I don't think a trade for any backup PG and C is going to be enough to turn this team into a championship team.

And finally, I want to go on record saying that neither Dmo or Jones will ever be an allstar. They are just more in a long line of decent players fans overrate.

It may be a terrible article, or maybe it's some indication how people who don't wear Rocket colored glasses view Dmo.

As for Zack Lowe, I wonder if he knows that Dmo is in the 9th percentile(bottom 9%) on Synergy as a roll man.

We can trade DMo for Dragic, or we can get somebody just as good without giving up DMo. Hey, I'll be pretty happy with either; I just hope DM pulls the trigger on some such thing by this summer.

For the most part I'm unwilling to trade D-Mo for Dragic straight up.

What would make that move more palpable would be getting a real stretch 4 and backup 5.

    D-Mo and Terry for Dragic

Papa, Schved and a pick (NOP or NY 2nd) for Illyasova and Henson.

Antetokounmpo gets another Greek to play with and they get a decent pick.

    Gives the Rockets

    Dragic/Bev/Canaan
    Harden/Dragic/Brewer
    Ariza/Brewer/Smith
    Illyasova/Smith/Jones
    Dwight/Henson/Dorsey

Still enough pieces to make another trade in the offseason if required. Maybe add Jones instead of a pick to the Bucks.

If GD will commit then look to a 3-way; with Heat and McBob? with Bulls and Taj. With Wolves and Thaddy? That is what will get'r done, assuming the returning son from the Suns commits to his future in TheToyShop.

McBob is out for the season and Taj would be available only for a significant wing upgrade because Bulls are contending this year. But Young is a good one. Def available. Saunders bought him with what looks like a lottery pick though so doubt he will sell him very low.
On the other hand I think he has a player option.

Noone said that DMO is an allstar or a future star or perfect. He has an elite skill is cheap for one more year young and improving. He also plays the most sought out position in the league- center.
I dont' wear Rocket colored glasses and I would give two first for DMO straight up.

Other posters might have pointed this out, but there would be some questions that need to be answered before doing the trade.

    - Will the Rockets have to re-sign Dragic to a max contract? Then, would a "Big Three" of Harden, Howard and Dragic be good enough by Morey's equation?

    - Can the Rockets keep Josh Smith beyond this season to fill that frontcourt need? If not, how would Morey be able to compensate for losing both DMo and Smith, all the while limited by the Big Three's contracts?

Even if you think Dragic is a better "asset," a trade would not be a clear homerun, IMO.

Ahhh..revisionist history at its finest. If we knew we were getting Harden in the deal that we did then yes keep Dragic. Morey at the time felt Dragic might be the piece that needed to be traded to bring a star in. And no team is gonna trade a star player for a player on contract with a player option. If he underperforms his contract then he opts in and is an albatross. If he over-performs then he opts out and you can lose him for nothing. Therefore his value is limited as an asset. Also do you think Dragic develops the same way playing next to Harden? Don't think so. He would have gone through what Lin went through.

It is worse than that, here is a list of players we had that are BETTER at their position than anyone currently on our roster.

    1. Dragic
    2. Lowry
    3. Brooks
    4. Patterson
    5. Parsons

    Quality backups:
    1. Whiteside
    2. Asik
    3. Covington

We keep flipping in hopes of getting better, but in reality we seem to be treading a lot of water, and are too impatient with our players.

And now Dmo - he might go too???

Hold em for a change and ADD - stop flipping already.

Lol so Patrick Patterson is that great at power forward? He should be a allstar if that's the case.

Only way he stays is if they trade Bledsoe and make him the #1 PG. And they aren't doing that.

Eh, not necessarily. He had his best season alongside Bledsoe. I think Thomas is the real issue.

Makes sense. That's why they want to read Isaiah now

    So true.
And Dragic playing SF minutes this year alongisde Thomas AND Bledsoe.

He's a tall PG, one might imagine he is used to 'seeing over' his man, and scoring on smaller guys. Scoring on 6'7 guys, and defending them, must surely affect his production? (and not having the ball as much).

He would be gold in our backcourt next to Harden, and next to Bev when Harden is having his 2nd quarter rest. We'd be able to elevate to a top 5 offensive team again, while still maintain the top 5 defensive rage.

Aaron Brooks? He's a huge liability on defense. You need to flip in order to add. It was Morey who was able to identify the young talent in Lowry, Parsons, and Dragic who are now all about to be max contract players. Though none are probably worth that contract.

And if Lowry was on our team we would be better, if Dragic was on our team we would be better, if Parsons was on the team we would be better.

The point is all this flipping is going sideways - not forward.
