You guys really don’t know (expletive),” Durant told reporters in his final interview session before Sunday’s All-Star Game.

Durant was later asked what stories he would like the media to focus on more.

“To be honest, man, I’m only here talking to y’all because I have to,” Durant said. “So I really don’t care. Y’all not my friends. You’re going to write what you want to write. You’re going to love us one day and hate us the next. That’s a part of it. So I just learn how to deal with y’all.”

with the exception of a small handful of good nba reporters, he's right that nba coverage has been reduced to garbage journalism devoid of accuracy or ethics. the big corp-w****-ate machines and their minions just jockying for web hits and tv ratings..

He's acting like a spoiled brat. He should be honored to be there but seems now like he privileged and all this is now a inconvenience.

I'm not sure what you mean by garbage journalism. I will say that what the younger generation seems to view as "good" reporting has changed into an exercise in hunger games.

I'm not sure I understand the mantra of you're not good unless you are an outsider, or unless you go contrarian on ESPN. Everything with you young people is reduced to HEEL versus FACE

OKC is unachieving; Durant is underachieving; and so this is just his frustration showing through. Unprofessional. For $20 million a year you can at least TRY to talk to the media in a classy way. Lots of everyday people have jobs they hate and which they get paid only $15/hr for; and yet each day they wake up at 5 am, plaster a smile on their face, get their hands dirty, make every effort to put up with the boss or that annoying co-worker, and go out there and give it the best they got.

"Reduced"? Was NBA coverage really much better 10 or 20 years ago? There are crappy members of the media now, but we had that back then, too. I mean... Peter Vecsey?

Plenty of non-athletes complain at/about their jobs and their lives, too. I don't have problem with people voicing criticism as long as it is an honest and fair criticism.

If KD is just unhappy in general and lashing out against people nearby, it's unprofessional of him. But I don't think he is doing this. Instead, he is in particular frustrated with what he sees as media just fishing for a quote from him to use against Scott Brooks, a coach and person that he worked with for years (his comments were prompted by one such question). So he voices his criticism of how the media operates.

Nice. I agree with Durant. The vast majority of the media don't know crap and only trying to make stories out of nothing. One day praising someone the very next eating him alive, for more clicks and "entertainment".
It is refreshing that Durant decided to stop being PC and finally speak his mind and tell it as it is.

While 95% of journalists and reporters suck at their job (and this was true 10 and 20 years ago too), this...

...is correct. Durant should stop giving a damn about how good or bad the media is. Part of his job is to talk to the media and answer their questions, even if some of the questions are stupid. He should just do his job like a professional, help his team win games, cut the BS and collect his paycheck. The end.

I don't think he'll be punished for this, but I do think he'll be warned by the NBA front office and OKC brass.

I beg to differ, Mr Durant. Sounds like you still have some learning to do!

They're going to have a field day with this meltdown.

Stories about him bolting to NY are only going to get more frequent.

Maybe the spotlight will annoy him to the point of hiding in Houston...

I wonder what his opinion was of the media when they voted him MVP last year? I personally have always found Durant to be a bit fake. Trying to play the good humble christian to the cameras, but then yelling at Jones that he's a b****, screaming that Houston is his city, calling Dwight a p***y. I have no problems with those things in general, but if your going to do that then own it. Don't try to portray yourself one way and then act another.

what is THEIR job, in your estimation - i'd like a definition. Also, then tell me who, in your opinion, sucks at doing this?

By the way, Hunter S. Thompson SUCKED at being a journalist. But I'd hazard a guess to say that you probably worship him.
