Tell me, what "assets" is McDonough going to get for Thomas? He's a backup point guard. At best he's a bottom 25-30 starting point guard. And he's owed $20 million after this season. 3-years of a cap clogging salary on a midget point guard whose contributions to a team are scoring and occasionally making a play for others. Those guys are a dime a dozen in this league. Aaron Brooks is on a minimum salary deal. Mo Williams is on a $3.5 million expiring deal. Thomas (and guys like Calderon) is virtually untradeable except for another cap clogging player back that probably isn't as good as Thomas and possibly a second rounder thrown in with him. Nobody is going to give an expiring contract and a good draft pick for Thomas. Nobody. At best they'll get an expiring deal and some future second round pick that is between 50-60. Yeah, that's how they found Thomas. But...odds are there'll be another 100 players drafted between 50-60 before you find another Thomas. They won't get any asset value for Thomas. Because his contract is not an asset.
It is clear that Goran hasn't played very well this year compared to his career best season in 13-14. The question is whether this is a symptom of how he's being used or an actual decline in his ability to play. If the Rockets are going after Dragic, they are betting on the former being the case.
Because he's a solid shot creator which Aaron Brooks, outside of a relevant system, is not and oh god I'm responding to basketballholic nevermind. Have you tried basketballholics anonymous?
He has shown flashes of last year's performance. It is very clear that he does better when he is at the 1 instead of the 2. I would be surprised if the Rockets hadn't done their homework on him.
It does seem somewhat surprising to see that. I thought that the lottery bound teams would be willing to move more of their players by now.
You out of your mind, Thomas is miles ahead of Brooks and Mo Williams. Thomas is a quality starting PG, the only reason he's on the bench is because he's on a team with 2 other all star caliber points. I'd say Thomas is closer to being top 15 in the league as well.
Lol your such a joke man. Thomas is miles ahead of Brooks and Williams (at this stage in their careers). He's a high quality starting PG. Explain to me how he isn't using real stats, and not calling him midget.
Now, I won't argue that. What Morey is going to do, I have no damn idea (I don't think you do either but that's not the topic). My point was, is IT is a quality starting point, and is not to be put in the same category as Brooks or Williams.
Only two teams are out of the playoffs race in the East . And the western lottery teams have sold off most of their vets already (Utah, Minny) .Only Denver remains.
