What?? He NEVER said that. Neither CyberX NOR Lowry has EVER said he was still waiting on an offer from Houston when he signed with Toronto. It sucks that people are going to believe you just because it fits the agenda they want to push.

Lowry said Toronto was not his first choice. Rockets met with him first, but never offered him a contract, asking him to wait for Carmelo to make his decision first.

So he decided to sign with Toronto.

interesting how people just make things up around here.

Lowry officially committed long-term on Thursday, inking a $48-million US extension with the franchise he intends to help lead deep into the playoffs.

“You don’t get many chances to say it’s your team,” Lowry said.

“As a competitor, as a professional ... other teams (Houston and Miami) had some great things. I think they had pieces that were competitive, but the situation that I’m in, me being able to lead a team and to grow as a person, that was a very big factor in it.”

I'm pretty sure it was between Houston and Toronto. We were the ones he wanted to meet with first so I do think he wanted to be here. He may have used us to squeeze out a little more money from the Raptors.

But I think if he was our number 1 option, he would have signed here.

Where in those quotes does it suggest that Houston was Lowry's first choice, and that if we hadn't hesitated, he would have signed here? Those are from CBS and the Canadian National Post. It says the same stuff on NBA.com, ESPN, and Fox. The ONLY people saying he wanted to come here first are posters on this board who have no inside knowledge of the situation. CyberX never said that Lowry wanted to come here over Toronto. Neither did Lowry himself.

Amazing that a guy would say the place he ended up signing was where he wanted to be all along. That never happens. Damn, lock this thread up, case closed.

    http://m.bleacherreport.com/article...ges-new-bond-with-raptors-team-he-almost-left

In that first meeting with the Rockets, a source close to the situation said, Morey made it clear that he wanted his former player to return. But the GM wouldn't make an official offer until Anthony made his decision.

"[The Raptors] weren't always the favorite, but Masai wanted to get the deal done, and it made it a lot easier," Lowry said in Las Vegas recently after a workout. "[Miller and I] approached it as a business and so did [the Raptors]. At the end of the day, I didn't wait for [the other teams]. I wanted to make my decision for myself."

So he signed, where he didn't want to go, to prove what point or get what?

Suck it Rockets! I'm gonna deal with freezing weather in another country, for the next 3-4 years, just to make you wish you'd offer me a deal!

Why do people have to be so dramatic? Was Houston his first option? Maybe not. But you can't deny he was interested in coming back. I just thought if Morey pushed hard and made a good offer from the beginning, he would take it.

I swear I read in an interview where Kyle Lowry said he almost signed in a "very familiar zip code," which since Memphis has Conley and no money pretty much leaves Houston. I can't find it now. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Because it would take something that dramatic to make sense of him staying somewhere he didn't want to be.

No one is denying he was interested in coming back. He even said he was open to leaving and I believe him completely. It's just naive to think a paper offer a few days earlier would have been the difference. He had everything he wanted in Toronto. Everything. A playoff team, teammates he liked and respected, an easier road to finals, great fan base, money, control of the team, etc.. It's pretty clear once he sat down and looked at the pros and cons Houston no longer stood a chance and he had no reason to wait.

No, TheFreak's point was that what player would say that he didn't want to go there AFTER he signed with that team? Lowry never said, "I've always wanted to stay in Toronto and never seriously considered signing with another team." He just said why he liked Toronto. That's a big difference.
