At 29, you'd be buying a declining asset at peak performance prices

No, and the better question is whether we would NEED to, as it is only a half year rental.

And I am hopeful this is not something that Clutch has heard is happening.....ARGH !!

It would depend on the pieces involved, however i would throw in a 2nd if they take Jones instead of D-Mo.

Nah, bigs with a back to the basket game are really rare. Good PGs are easy to come by.

Even though I said no, it wouldn't be awful to see a deal like that made.

The upgrade from Bev to Goran would be far greater than the dropoff from DMo to Jones, IMO. Jones defense is obviously a concern from last year, but Josh Smith offsets that to a degree off the bench, no?

It's a difficult situation and it'll be interesting to see just how much Morey values DMo.

The Suns are in a pickle.

Morey can offer T.Jones, N'dumba-Capela, Canaan, Johnson, rights to Lull or second round picks.

    Then again, he can be...

Motiejunas has been much improved, but he may not get any better. We also have TJones & Josh Smith, which makes us very deep at PF.

I'd trade him, depending on what else we needed to give up.

I would not, simply because I believe we have a good shot at him this upcoming FA season.

Another thing to consider, if DMo was the main piece for Dragic, and PBev was kept, going into the offseason, at PG and PF, you'd have:

Dragic = FA, could feasibly leave for "greener" pastures
PBev = FA, you could probably resign, but at what cost and would you want to at that cost
JSmith = FA, you could potentially resign, but at what cost
TJones = under contract, but is a big question mark

In some ways, you have to start from scratch at 2 extremely competitive positions.

If you don't do the trade, you can go into the offseason knowing you really really really have to focus on one position, PG, and fill out the rest after that. Since DMO still only costs $2.3 million next year, he's a bargain and you can focus all of your cap space on maximizing your PG position.

I'd have to get up to speed on a more recent Bima salary cap post, and then check 2015 free agents...

But all factors considered, my gut says no.

Rockets have NO CHANCE to land Dragic in FA. NONE.
THE ONLY CHANCE IS VIA TRADE.

the suns would say yes. They want to seperate the twins because they will end up in jail.

This isn't necessarily true. I'm pretty sure that, for the salary he would command on the open market, we would have to trade off somebody like Ariza and have Chandler-Parsons-esque timing on resigning Motiejunas in order to have enough cap space to sign Dragic. Hence, the push to trade him, so we can get his Bird Rights.
