To be fair, he did once trade dragic, martin, scola and a 1st for a slumping gasol. I don't think Morey is a stranger to overpaying for a player he really wants and that's what scares me at the moment. We just have to trust him cause he's often times more right than wrong. Thank you commish stern.
Dragic / Beverley Harden / Terry Ariza / Brewer Smith / Jones Howard / Plumlee Motiejunas, Papanikolaou, Capela and Pelicans 1st for Dragic and Plumlee. I think that's fair value at this point, we'd be very well balanced at every position, get a high quality starting point and a good backup C.
If he doesn't say he will extend before he comes here (if traded) we can't get him. No way we take a chance like that with lakers preparing to throw big money at anybody above average. Dragic will follow the money and...... it is L.A. not a bad place to live and get sponsored at.
Just remember, income tax and cost of living makes a lower offer here more valuable, a 12 per year here is worth more than 15 per there.
I love Bev but he should not be a starting PG in the NBA. He is a bench player, defensive **** stirrer and any offense he gives should be looked at as a bonus. If we get Dragic, Bev should start wearing and headband and come off the bench with Smith, Brewer and Terry. I hope we get Dragic, I think that will put us over the top in regards to having a championship level roster.
I'm sorry, I just don't want to trade D-Mo. I know he's not a "Star" player, but I think he has a HIGH ceiling. Seriously...
You guys talking about it being an overpay are crazy. If the Rockets are telling the truth about Dwight's knee, then this is a year you can win the title. Who knows whether that will be true again in the future. You give up a first round pick in a heartbeat if you think the guy you are getting is the difference.
If push comes to shove, I expect the Rockets to move DMO for Dragic and then make a seperate move for a veteran 4.
HOU in: Dragic, Novak HOU out: Terry, Papa, Pellies 1st PHO in: Kanter, Ian Clark, Pellies 1st PHO out: Dragic, Plumlee, Future 2nd Utah in: Terry, Papa, Plumlee, Future 2nd Utah out: Kanter, Novak, Clark
unlikely he has nothing of value to offer - he gave up those for Rondo. And at this point trying to get a guy like Dragic would be an obvious ploy to just try to get at the Rockets. I dont think the other owners would like those sort of tactics -- Agents may love it if it means more for their client but owners wont. Remember majority of the owners are still more of the "old school" Les Alexander type than the new wave of tech guys like Cuban, Ballmer, Randive etc. I doubt they will move DMo now - I do think Jones is more on the block even though he has shown he hasnt really lost anything due to the time off with the injury (a good thing for his trade value). DMo has played way too well and has played too well with the other guys to lose him. As much as I would hate to see him go I think Kostas will be traded. Dmo while he isnt the strongest guy he is still the team's only 7 footer too.
While I agree with D-Mo having a high ceiling and being a good player, you have to ask which player makes the Rockets better. Dragic or D-Mo? As of right now, I say Dragic. The Rockets have Smith and Jones at PF. And while I think Motiejunas is better than those guys, they kind of have a glut at the PF spot of very capable guys. Dragic fills a huge need. So although I would hate to lose D-Mo, especially after how awesome he's played this year, I think the addition of Dragic is a net positive for the team.
