    I think if a job leaves you crippled for the rest of your life I think the NFL needs to take some responsibility.

    Playing football in the NFL is not simply some "job"... these guys make that choice and get paid quite well (at least the ones that last long enough) to do so.

    Perhaps the new "soft" league will help some of these current guys as they get older... you see most of the people that are in pretty bad shape now played in an era of much more extreme contact and less safety measures.

    But in the end, yes... football is dangerous... choose to play it (and get paid for it) at your own risk. Nothing really new about that.
