Given there are no more games between now and the deadline, this is effectively the deadline. Trades can be agreed in principle and executed later.
Which brings us to another issue.....how do you sort out Jones, DMo, Smith, and Howard? IMO, the Rockets are going to try to sell high on DMo by trading for Kevin Love. It makes significantly more sense from a roster construction standpoint if you can trade DMo, the NOP 1st, and other assets for someone like Love than it does trading the NOP 1st and expirings for Dragic. That said, if you can't get Love I still think you make the trade for Dragic. There's still a chance that DMo and Capela could be a really good trade package at the next deadline.
Pretty sure there's been plenty of calls about Dragic with a number of teams. Suns are just shopping for the best deal-- hopefully a "home run" deal.
If they're leaking less maybe no one is offering it to them. A lot to ask for a guy that could be a rental.
One of jones and dmo is gone in a year from now. They will both be free agents, and morey ain't paying both. Settle your pg situation now if you can. Worry about your backup pf position later.
Suns' guys on the phone with Morey: Morey: Okay, we'll give you the New Orleans 1st. Suns: Gooood.... Morey: And Kostas Papanikolaou.... Suns: Yeah, okay, we like him.... Morey: Hmn, how about Canaan? Then you can deal Isaiah Thomas elsewhere... Suns: Not bad, yeah, lose one Isaiah, gain another, yeah, goooood..... Morey: And for salary-matching purposes, um, let's see (pretends to look at paperwork), Joey Dorsey. Suns: Uh....hold up. (covers phone with hand, then comes back) Mr Sarver says, "Tell them they can keep that s**t."
We can't afford to trade Dorsey unless Plumlee or some other big is coming back from somewhere. Not enough bodies that can play the 5 with Dwight out.
The trade that I believe makes the most sense for both teams is..... NOP 1st Papanikolaou Shved Rights to Sergio Llull Llull is a little redundant if you've got Dragic, and I think the Rockets will give Josh Smith the full MLE this summer (which doesn't leave you with anything to sign Llull).
I agree that if we are going after Dragic, we might as well deal off Llull. Not sure the Suns would really want his rights though. They are allegedly looking for a big, not a PG. Maybe a three team trade though where Llull goes to another team that has a promising big guy to move (Maybe Orlando?).
I wouldn't mind a mega tradd that included dragic , green and plumle coming here but if we got dragic without having to deal Bev, tjones or dmo I would be all for that.
