Codman said something about friends and feeling at home and mentioned Smoove/Dwight and Brewer feeling at home with McHale. Maybe Love is feeling lost in Cleveland and wants to come play for McHale and be with Brewer. Or maybe I'm just crazy
They shouldn't complain. Papa is not going to be here for long regardless. He's got a team option for next season that pays him over 4 mil and is a free agent beyond that. Odds are with the Rockets having tough choices to make on whether to keep Smith and Brewer(and possibly Terry, although I'm thinking he's gone after this season) and needing to find the money to resign them, they're gonna turn down that option on Papa. If that's the case, then why not use him in a trade if the opportunity arises?
I just don't see the Cavs and Love parting ways anytime soon (within next 2 years). They did give up Wiggins to get him off a crappy team...
Does anyone really think the Suns can make the playoffs though if OKC stays healthy? The only reason they're in the 8th spot right now instead of 9th is because Durant(and to a lesser extent Westbrook) have missed so much time this season. Shoot, they'd probably be in 10th right now if OKC hadn't been ravaged by injuries and Davis didn't hurt his shoulder in that nasty spill. I was reading in an article about the Suns last night that said they're actually 4 games worse right now as they were at the same point last season. They've regressed despite not having any devastating injuries like a lot of the other playoff-bound teams in the West have.
Well it doesn't help that they have 3 point guards on that team. It's no wonder Dragic's numbers have suffered.
They haven't regressed. Good young players generally do not suddenly get worse. The situation changed. The dynamic changed. I guarantee you he's still the same player. He just needs to be in a better situation. Josh Smith looks much better than he did 2 months ago when he was in Detroit. He didn't just all-of-a-sudden get better. He's just in a better situation now.
I'm pretty sure this isn't part of the equation. The Rockets aren't going to make a move for Dragic unless they view him as THE piece and as someone who can be the third-best player on a championship team. Basically, is he closer to Bosh or closer to Parsons? If they see him in the Bosh tier, and see him as capable of being that third star, then there is practically ZERO risk of Dragic leaving. Goran loves Houston, it'd be the best situation for him to contend, and they'd be able to offer him at least $30 million more guaranteed. It's a slam dunk that he would re-sign, if offered the max. The question, of course, is whether the Rockets see him as in that top-tier class. If they don't, well, they won't be trading the NO 1st and Jones to get him, so the whole discussion is pointless. But if the Rockets are willing to give up those assets, it would clearly signal that they view him as a max player... in which case the contract/re-signing issue becomes irrelevant.
Hopefully, they bite on the trade you suggested, unlike most here I think Terrance is very valuable to this team. KPap talented and can help out but is more replaceable than TJones.
My thoughts exactly. I am not worried that Dragic is a UFA. If the Rockets trade for Dragic (knowing he is a UFA), and give up significant assets to acquire him (NOP/Tjones etc) then you can 100% know that the Rockets are prepared to do whatever it takes financially to keep Dragic. Rockets are going to piss away assets.
I wouldn't mind the Rox giving up Jones if we can get Dragic. I remember back in 95 when the Rox traded Otis Thorpe who actually helped the team win a championship the year before. But getting Drexler (who was actually on the downward end of his career unlike a younger Dragic) helped to get the Rox another championship. If Morey is really trying to be all in, he has to do what it takes and giving up Jones shouldn't be an end all to getting Dragic.
Yeah, I think the best trade package I'd offer the Suns would be... 2015 NOP 1st rd pick Kostas Papanikolaou Isaiah Canaan Joey Dorsey It's fair considering Dragic is having a down year, is about to become a unrestricted free agent, and there's not a lot of teams out there looking for a starting PG.
