Two reasons it hasn't happened already if this report is true. First, if Shved is part of the deal, Morey has to wait til the trade deadline. Second, Phoenix may have wanted to wait as long as possible to evaluate their chances at making the playoffs. They have to know now that the odds are extremely slim with the way OKC is coming on. Hell, if Davis hadn't gotten hurt in New Orleans, there was a higher likelihood the Suns would fall to 10th than remain in the 8th spot.
Thats what I was thinking too. Maybe he's trying to get Plumlee as well? Phoenix is probably asking for T-Jones. With Dwight out, DM probably wants another big to come along with Dragic. K-Pap, T-Jones, Shved, Pels pick for Dragic, Plumlee, and a waivable contract?

He has no idea what happens in the team that is in the next town and he supposedly covers. Much less about Phoenix! He is a running joke in most Bucks forums and hated too because of his agendas and all the bull**** he spews on the radio show.
He's only good to sub in when Harden sits. The Rockets need a PG who can play next to Harden take off pressure on both ends. Especially in the 4th quarter when they share possession making it hard for opposing teams to defend agaainst.
Let's not kid ourselves here: anyone of those three Phoenix guards would help us out tremendously. Dragic is most likely to be dealt due to his contractual situation, which is good since he's the best fit among the three. But don't sleep on Thomas. Thomas is like a better version of Aaron Brooks that goes through stretches where he's borderline unguardable. Could be quite the spark coming off of the bench.
I like Thomas, but I guess DM wants a starting PG. Keeping Bev in the starting line-up isn't an option, IMO. I'd rather have Bledsoe than Dragic, honestly. Bledsoe is a more all-round player with defense and offense.
What happens with the PG rotation if we do someone land a Dragic or Lawson? Does Bev really move to the bench? If so, where does that leave Terry in the rotation? Backing up Harden exclusively?
Dragic brings added slashing ability that only brewer seems to know how to do on our team as well. But any one of those 3 would be helpful.
I would be afraid of Thomas ruining team chemistry. Players including Harden could get peeved at him for dominating the ball. The Rockets needs are greater than offense off the bench.
Thomas has problems with not starting for the Suns. Imagine if MacHale told him to be Beverley's sub. lol
No. Thomas would be terrible for this team. 1. Thomas dominate the ball no matter who's on the court. Cousins got sick of him and told management to dump him. Dragic is now relegated to spot up duty with him on the team. The man does not know how to play team ball if his life depends on it. 2. Thomas wants to start. Fired his agent because apparently he wanted a starting gig, signed with the Suns, and somehow Bledsoe remained on the team. 3. Thomas is terrible on defense. No way the Rockets put him and Harden together to end game and force Harden to guard the opposing best guard. Thomas is the type of player that can destroy a team unless he's the perfect fit. And he's clearly not a perfect fit with us.
If you can trade for someone like Dragic or Lawson, he'll be your starting PG. It's a no-brainer. Bench rotation will be re-evaluated anyway, depending on the package we trade away for a starting PG.
A lot of what you're saying here is subjective and/or redundant. Factoring in what Boogie Cousins thinks? No. Pointing to a bench spark plug's high usage rate (when such things are implied)? No. But generally speaking, you do raise some valid concerns. Mainly, would he accept a bench role similar to what he already has in Phoenix? Obviously, if DM chose to explore this avenue that determination would be made before any trade would materialize. Keep in mind, though, these "demands" to start don't always play out. Look at the Josh Smith situation. He seems perfectly content with his role. Winning and chemistry can definitely change these sort of things. In terms of fit, I disagree. I think it's quite obvious that he would thrive in our type of offense. He shoots the 3 at a high rate, draws fouls and knows how to play in an uptempo system. He's not the best playmaker in the world (and is prone to periods of tunnel-vision), but he is a gifted passer and knows how to breakdown a defense. Something that could be useful in the 4th quarter whenever our offense tends to get kind of stale. And to be fair: the data available suggests the concerns over his defense are overrated. Yeah, he's tiny and will always be vulnerable for that reason, but it's not for lack of effort. Couple that with the fact that he wins his matchups while on the floor and scores at a fairly high rate, he's worth $7M in my book. Not my top choice, but I would be content with acquiring him for the right price.
Me thinks TJones, Terry, Shved and the NOP pick for the Dragic brothers and Plumlee would be a fair trade for both sides. This would be almost a straight salary match (keeping the Rockets out of the luxury tax), and would better balance both rosters.
