Like I expressed in post earlier, the lucky component about Harden coming here was that it took a couple of franchises turning down offers for Harden and OKC came to Houston out of a last resort to keep from being empty handed when Harden tested free agency waters. Yes Morey had the skill to execute the trade but it wouldn't have happened without luck being involved.
Yes this is truly what started off everything not the analytics stuff. Its like Clutch says its not about analytics, or defense, or whatever. Charles just doesn't like the Rockets because he feels we wronged him and now will never have anything good to say about us.
Well to be honest the Defense has been discussed on the GARM and how it's not the same as the beginning of the year... Take it that Howard has been playing hurt and missing games... It still has been a big issue... In several games we have nice leads and then let the other team back in the game from a combination of... 1) Missing shots... Especially 3's 2) No team defense... Bad rotation and people not talking 3) Lack of fundamental concentration on defense 4) No boxing out or rebounding... He stated that the "No Defense" is with the teams in playoff contention.. Again, this discussion has been talked about on the GARM. T_Man
No, we're saying if you say "he went out and got James Harden and Dwight Howard and (he’s) going to tell me that’s analytics" or you agree with that statement, you're an idiot. Seriously, did you and Chuck have a fling in the late 90s?
That's a meaningless statement. Please elaborate. You're going to lose this argument if you think I'm making up my own debate here. I'm merely putting context to Barkley's words. Where am I making things up?
I'm sorry, but this statement is downright stupid. Utilizing analytics does NOT mean that you believe all statistics are created equally. Methodology is a HUGE component of analytics and how they are weighed against each other. There is a large pattern here: people who are taking Barkley's side have displayed a lack of understanding about analytics and what they are.
I apologize I'm typing too fast. I should've known to slow down for people taking Barkley's side in this.
As HeyPartner has stated... Stats can be used any way you want it and you can twist them any way you like... http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/field-goals The link above shows field goal percentage and it has DeAndre Jordan at #1 and Curry at #38... Harden is not even on the list... So if the game is on the online and I am looking at stats would I go with DeAndre or Curry? Analytics is a great tool... But it's a tool and stats never tell the entire story.. T_Man
LOLs On the contrary, I have a profound knowledge of basketball analytics relative to most; so, you're wrong on that. Sorry, your post here just really says nothing about what you mean. You're just attacking ppl like Rocketman95 is. Have at it, guys. When you want to actually talk about what Analytics is within the history of the NBA: I'm here. But until then, don't bother filling this thread up with more off-topic narratives and meta-debates.
http://youtu.be/DQQcpWGC-xE Remember when Chuckles was being a sore loser in the playoffs and committed a flagrant foul on The Dream? Les should hire Maxwell as a consultant and send him to TNT Basketball Studios.
No, you're putting words into his mouth. Instead, he declares something incorrect that has never been stated. Unless you can show me the quote where Morey says analytics are the only reason the Rockets are doing well with Harden and a healthy Howard. I apologize in advance if I missed that quote.
sheesh. So much for talking basketball with Rocketman95, today. Can you at least describe Barkley's side in this? You don't even have to provide an argument for or against: Just tell me what you think. Are you just refusing to explain your take? You just want to say vague things like "Anyone who agrees with Barkley is an idiot."
Anyone trying to put deeper thought into what Barkley was saying is trying too hard. Barkley was pissed that Morey took a shot at him (and obviously it upset him because there was truth in what Morey said) so he shot back at Morey using the only thing he knows about Morey. Does he even really believe what he's saying? Probably not, but he doesn't have the composure to make a good comeback so he just goes for cheap shots about Morey's past and what he believes in and then throws in that he wouldn't know what he looks like. At this point he's like Don Vito from that Bam Margera show, gets riled up and starts spouting gibberish that you can't understand.
