Gordon is in my signature so I can definitely see the possibility of him playing off Harden. However, we wouldn't be trading for him by giving the Pels pick back to them. If we traded for him, we would be giving the Pels cap space to work with next summer to bring someone else in. So, Pels should give us Withey or Ajinca as compensation for taking salary off their hands. Or possibly maybe lessen the pick protection in our favor.
And for good reason too. He's another small, scoring point guard that can't D it up. Those guys are a dime a dozen. He's not a Morey target especially owed 3 more years at right around $20 million.
The future at the point is Jennings and if they think Monroe will be gone in the off-season, a Shved and Capela package might entice them. He's playing well right now but the Pistons will likely be focused on the future come the trade deadline.
LOL, no. Even if the Pistons want to move Augustin in the future, they can get a better return than Shved and Capela.
This could easily just be another Jordan Hamilton type trade, we all go "Huh?" then we go "In Morey we Trust" - then player goes bust.
I doubt it. There is no use for these expirings and these picks when you have a MVP in his prime ready to win now. Especially when we won't be able to clear enough space to add someone THAT significant in the summer.
LOL I didn't even propose a deal I just said they should see if he's available. And you're telling me that DJ Augustin is untouchable? He's been playing well but the idea of DJ Augustin not being available is absurd.
Of course not - he's only an available player on a move able contract at our greatest position of need. I'm sure your all powerful signature is spot on. I've never known Morey to do something logical. Oh wait
He only got a two year deal worth $3MM per in the offseason. Virtually any team could have had him so the Pistons can ask the moon but people aren't likely going to pay it. He is the kind of journeyman player whose trade chip you cash in when you can. Capela hasn't translated D-League to NBA yet in his limited time but his upside makes him about as valuable as a back end lottery pick. That's as good as the Pistons can hope for DJ unless some team makes a stupid offer.
I wouldn't discount anyone as a Morey target. He bases his trade decisions on analysis which entails the total value a guy like Thomas would bring versus his cost (contract and assets surrendered to acquire). If his value exceeds his cost by the return Morey needs to pull the trigger, then he'll do it. He might be a scoring point guard but if no other option is available and for the assets we have we could get Thomas plus a legitimate rim protector (not sure if Wright is eligible to be dealt again but just an example), yes Morey could pull that trigger. Thomas is far less likely to require a pick to be packaged with him to move.
One thing you left out was where the current roster is? Do we have our top 3 to 4 players in place? No. And Thomas is not good enough to be a top 3 or 4 player on a championship team. He's a 6-8 guy, maybe 5-8 guy on a championship roster. Like him. He's a good player. But we can't round out the roster with those contacts until we get our top 3 to 4 guys in place. That's the primary reason we're not interested.
You make way too many assumptions to be so bold with your crappy opinion. Can he be flipped? Yes Is his contract fair? Yes could his contract be combined with other assets to get another player later? Yes Go back to the drawing board and see if you can cough up something logical as a fake insider
