Dude, 3 young high achieving young adults with promising futures were just murdered. This is national front page news regardless of religion or race. Have some respect for the deceased.
This happens everyday all over the world. I asked why this hate crime is bigger news than other hate crimes. Feel free to show your phoney outrage at my comment though.
So I've been on twitter looking for more information Why are people spamming the narrative of "double standards" or something by pretending this isn't the top trending news?
IMO this thread should already be moved. Almost every comment is passive aggressive. Tragic story. Annoying commentary.
Okay... I won't show outrage but rather I will request evidence of your assertion. When was the last time three college kids from a top ranked university were gunned down? After you answer that, answer whether that incident made the front page of most publications. I'm going to make a prediction... It probably did.
Oh so you are saying what makes this special is that they are in college? or is it that they went to a 'top-ranked' college rather than a community college?
show us the last time 3 innocenet people were gunned down in America because of their religion and it didn't make top news I'll wait
Yes, it is an influencing factor. Humans show more empathy towards hard working and high achieving individuals. But stop being avoiding the question. Answer my question. If three white christian students from UNC Chapel Hill were gunned down, would it make the front page? Yes or no. Simple question. Answer it.
I don't know if it was a "hate crime" or not, but that's irrelevant IMO, the guy murdered 3 innocent people allegedly over a parking dispute, he should fry.
why are you avoiding the question, you made the assertion that this should be no big deal because "it happens everyday around the world". Why don't you back up your assertion by showing us a similar incident that isn't being covered.
what is your question? when was the last time 3 people where gun down? or is it when was the last time 3 colleg students where gun down? or is it when was the last time 3 college students from a high-ranking school where gun down? This is what i was asking before you started demanding answers (as if i feel some obligation to meet your demands.)
Because ATW just woke up from a 5 hour surgery under a general anaesthetic. Kind of hard to post from there...even for me.
Sadly, shootings like this are fairly common, but since the 3 victims are a minority and the shooter was white, it makes it a bigger deal due to the assumption of racism being a factor. There's really no evidence of this being a hate crime that I'm aware of other than the fact that the shooter was a white atheist or "anti-theist" as he called it. It really might just be a case of an argument that turned violent....which happens a lot.
I'm hoping he was being sarcastic. Anyone who believes you would condone such an act of violence is an idiot.
The shooter was Syrian, and this was over a parking dispute. But oh how much Muslim activists would love to make it a thing of racism and "he did it because they were Muslim" and create a false equivalency to all the actual hate crimes committed by Muslims.
You explicitly stated that this happens every day. So again, when was the last time 3 college students from a well known university were gunned down on at once? Did that story make the front page?
You know I'm fair on this subject matter, but do you think it's pure coincidence that his Facebook page has a plethora of anti-Muslim rhetoric? Could it have been an influencing factor?
when i said 'this happens everyday' I mean hate crime murders (even though this wasn't even a hate crime according to reports now). Obviously, you feel this news story deserves more attention by the simple fact that the victims went to a high-ranking university. why does that matter? hows it different then if they were janitors?
