We're not trading Howard right now and Sacramento isn't trading Cousins right now. Any trade scenario involving either one is implausible right now.
Bird rights are traded with players, except in the case of 1 year contracts (see signing a QO), Phoenix will have full bird rights as of this offseason, hence that would be transferred

We are sure about this since he would technically be being traded before his 3rd year? And there are different Bird rights. I read it as Early Bird rights if they are with their team they signed with for less than 3 years. Not saying you are wrong, just looking for a little more concrete evidence about the Rockets exceptions they would get with each of these targets.
Except what Aleron said Dragic will be UFA so in the end the decision will be his even if Suns/Houston make the best offer. But Knight or any other after their rookie contract is RFA so the team has more control. They can match all offers and keep them. So basically with Dragic you still gamble but with Knight or whoever else RFA (i.e DMO next year) he can't leave you if you want him. Well..unless ofc he takes the QO but this happens very rarely. Ty Lawsons being locked in a nice contract is for sure a big plus. Same with Rubio.
Yes. If Rockets acquired Dragic, they get his Bird Rights as well. I think you are thinking of the Jordan Hamilton situation where a team, not the player, did not exercise a team option. In that situation, the Rockets were limited to what the team option would have been.
Added Love back in yesterday and starting to get list in order of Morey's preference. Everybody knows if Cleveland trades Love that Morey will be all over it. And everybody should know this is the first situation that Morey is going to check on next Thursday. He won't make another deal until he knows that Love isn't being traded or that he isn't in the running to trade for Love. I've had Love on here multiple times and I've taken him off because I haven't heard anything substantial on him in a while. And, like Jimmy Butler, I don't think he'll be traded. But......I know Morey is going to check on their availability next Thursday before he moves on to other targets. So Love is target #1 and will remain there unless the ground quakes and Durant or Paul decide they want out (not going to happen).
It doesn't matter when he's traded. What matters is how long he's been under contract when he is resigned. He would complete his 3rd year of his contract at then end of this season and then be resigned using Bird rights.
Any chance Morey kicks the tire on Eric Gordon? If healthy i think he could play next to Harden as a PG. I know that contract is scary due to his injury history but the talent is there when he can stay on the floor.
I rather have an actual PG. I don't want Harden to run the team, set up everybody and be our #1 guy. We are going to drain him before we make it to the playoffs.
It's almost always this quiet. We aren't like many franchises that leak real trades before they happen. If there's a leak regarding the Rockets, it's almost certainly a misdirection. I tend to take silence as good news. We know Morey working overtime, so the silence might mean that we are going after big game. If we were going after smaller pieces you'd see a tweet from Amick like: "According to league sources, the Rockets are very active in pursuit of a point guard"
A potentially interesting point on your part. Since he is playing well again, the Pelicans may ask for their pick back, plus quite a bit of assists. I would pass up on that. His injury history is also concerning.
