We will all be anticipating a Canaan-Papanikolaou for Dragic trade, and then there will be a trade of something like a 2nd round pick for Zhrkgzmkz Xhaloo, who is an unknown Euro stash.
LOL, I don't know why everyone thinks Harden staying is such a guarantee. If LeBron would leave a team with Wade and Bosh that had been to the Finals 4 times in 4 years, and KD is rumored to want out of a team with Westbrook and Ibaka that (barring injury) has made a deep playoff run every year, why would Harden stay on a team with a broken Dwight that had never been out of the 1st round? I DEFINITELY don't want him to leave, but you guys are crazy if you don't think there's a chance of it happening.
I voted 100% since two things are abundantly clear: #1) We need another playmaker. This, to me, is fairly obvious and has been discussed ad nauseam. #2) With Dwight down, this Joey Dorsey experiment is ineffective and going to end very soon. Seriously, starting a fringe NBA player like Dorsey for 9-13 minutes a night is a waste of everybody's time. So unless management deems we already have the talent in house (Canaan, Johnson or Capela), I 100% expect some sort of move to be made to address one or both of these needs; no matter how small or minor that trade may end up being.
It's all because Morey likes to make the trade in the final seconds. If no agreement reached, then no trade happens. This is why I always hate it. Why don't make a trade earlier?
If we stand pat, then we'd better hope that Howard gets his post game back. Harden is being relied on too much to win a championship, Howard will have to be healthy and more efficient in the post to create a more balanced attack offensively.
The Rockets have acquired way too many expirings to not make a trade. People who are comparing this year to last year aren't looking at contract situations. Last year we had untradable contracts, including Parsons/Fegan's handshake agreement deal that made him unusable, Lin's terrible contract, and Asik's injury. This year the Rockets have Terry, Papa, and Shved's expirings, Pelicans pick, raw talent in Capella, and extra big to move with Jones. They won't just make another Hamilton type trade. They'll add at least a Wilson Chandler level rotation player.
I will feel apathetic. I became jaded when Morey said the team couldn't compete without a 3rd star and then dumped our second-tier guys for assets that couldn't contribute in the coming season. Picking up Josh Smith was a step in the right direction, but I'm still waiting for Morey to complete the circle on this 3rd star thing. So far as I can tell, Morey still doesn't think we have a winner (and taking a step back with Howard's health issues) or contending this season. So, I'm not really going to waste much of my time hoping for them until we have a team Morey can put some faith into. If there's no big deadline deal, I'll write off the season and wait for what blockbuster offseason Morey might pull off. I don't know if my patience for Morey will last much longer than that.
100% if trade is not made the Rockets are one and done. They even fall out the playoffs with West so damn tight.
We kind of need to trade the NO pick, right? Our team is good and we don't want to wait around for a draft pick to develop (at least not where the NO pick will be). We should trade the pick and get PG help.
This is ridiculous. The Rockets have been one of the best teams of this season. They are currently 3rd in the ultra-competitive Western Conference. They have done that while battling several injuries. I hope they make a trade. I hope they cash in 'assets' for a player that will help them compete now. But to say that they will 100% be a one and done team if they don't- and they might not even make the playoffs at all is just ridiculous.
I would be disappointed if we didn't make a trade, but I wouldn't be shocked. I just don't think there's anything out there that can really help us right now. We need a backup legitimate center and we need a legit playmaker, whether he be a PG or a 3, someone who can handle the ball, break down defenses, and get someone a good look. 2 months ago, I would have said we don't need a trade, we have a championship team right here, but with Dwight out, our big man depth and playmaking depth, or lack thereof, has outed us a second tier team at best. That being said, I still have faith that Harden can lead us past the 1st round and that Howard MIGHT be able to return to near-full form. *Fingers Crossed*
I chose 75% only because I feel like Morey has little desire to hold on to those picks (Pellies, Den 2nd, NYK 2nd).
History says DM makes a trade, but I said 75% just to hedge my bet. I think we'll get a backup 1 or 5 or it'll be an "increase the assets" trade. Since DM has a tendency to trade for someone we haven't mentioned, I won't limit his options by mentioning anyone.
