It does matter who Morey targets. Because he'll eventually hit one of his targets. While you may not think we have assets to interest Atlanta, you don't know that absolutely. I weld imagine if a team offered Atlanta enough draft picks and a competent playmaking backup point guard that Atlanta would trade Schroder since they're on the hook for Teague for two more years after this one. Can a deal be made for Schroder? Not likely. But the more "not likely" trades are put on the table the greater the odds that one of them actually gets done. Bottom line is Schroder is one player that Morey likes a lot and would trade for under the right circumstances. Morey knows he can get a Mo Wiliams/Will Bynum/Nate Robinson type player anytime. That's why those guys aren't trade targets. Also mediocre players on mid-level contacts that extend into 2016-17 are not trade targets. So you can rule out guys like Jose Calderon UNLESS Calderon comes with other assets attached to him such as a future first round draft pick, something that could be repackaged with Calderon later to dump him for cap space if needed. That's the only way trade for non-superstar veterans on mid-level contacts that run past next season.
It doesn't matter if he targets Schroder because Schroder has already shown that he can be a star pg in this league and Atlanta and Danny Ferry are well aware of this. So along with Morey other 28 gms also are "targeting" him. Even if Boston threw all their first round picks right now at Atlanta they would refuse (unless it included a no.1 pick ). Teague who is on the hook as you say costs only 8 mil per. Which for an All Star is beyond ridiculous. Atlanta is in perfect shape cap wise and has no need to shed any salaries. Your example would be better if Morey targeted a player before he had begin to break out i.e Gobert last year or Maclemore. Now it's simply too late. Speaking of Mo Williams Charlotte tried to get him for filler. Talks died.
Of course they died. I wouldn't take "filler" until the very last second. I'm moving closer to the "Dragic, Love, Rubio or bust" camp. The DEN 2nd (#38 right now) is overpaying for a player like Mo Williams and his expiring contract.
he doesn't get it and he's not representative to the quality of fan we are. he doesn't get that a running list of players that we have no way of getting is stupid and immature. I heard morey likes LeBron too - why wasn't he on the list. Heard bosh was someone they liked - not on the list. Heard even Dwight likes chris paul. see how easy it is to make up b.s. and throw it against the wall? That's what realgm forums are for - I think jopatmc got lost on his way and the street lights are off so he's scared to wander home
Bynum is in China; Nate is on the street. That's why they're not trade targets. No deadline deal? Then maybe Bynum gets signed. Maybe. No deadline deal? Then maybe Blatche gets signed. Maybe. Who gets bought out? Yes, who does get bought out???
Err the same group of owners who used to fight between themselves etc They have put the franchise for sale. Ferry is waiting in the sidelines for the new owner to reinstate him . Interim GM is coach Bud who is a players coach utilises his bench to the full and has been developing Dennis for two years. Good luck prying him away from him.
The Jopat predictions are worse than the DD jinx. It is almost guaranteed not to come true even if it makes sense.

So, how is trading with ATL going to work exactly? I mean, besides a minor tweak? I've asked the (self-proclaimed) hero of this Thread's continuance and he just chooses not to answer. Note: forget the Hawks as a trade partner until after, a-f-t-e-r, the ownership situation is resolved.
What's the likelihood that Morey is looking for a "stopgap" this deadline and banking on this being the Summer of the Llullz
Really wish people would stop discussing stuff with this bballholic guy. I've put him in ignore but that does not seem to be enough.
Sergio Llull does not exist, he's a figment of Rockets' fans imaginations much like unicorns and the Loch Ness Monster
Since Detroit is doing so much better I guess they won't give up DJ Augustin for a second round pick eh?
I totally agree. Why trade the Denver pick for Mo Williams when we can sign little Nate for nothing? He's simply not worth it. Those guys are a dime a dozen.
