Dark skinned hispanic girl I know tells me she's going tanning. I laugh because I think she's joking. She looks offended. Felt kinda like a jerk. Do dark skinned folks normally go tan? and if so, why?
Fat girl I know tells me she's going to eat a salad. I laugh because I think she's joking. She looks offended. Felt kinda like a jerk. Do fat folks normally eat a salad? and if so, why?
in my defense, her skin color looks very natural, and I think it was her first time tanning. and secondly fat people eat salads to lose their fattiness, dark skinned people would goto a tranning place to maintain their darkness right? better analogy, fat girl tells me she's going to eat a bacon.
It was a weak analogy and even weaker attempt at being funny, but what's done is done. I can't go back now that you've quoted it. Anyway to be honest I'd be with you on the OP if I knew she was naturally dark skinned. I didn't know naturally dark skinned people went tanning, but that could just be because I've never been tanning. (Though, I wouldn't have laughed just in case.)
So, this fat girl orders 2 quarter pounders a biggie fries and a large diet coke... I said she should order 2 diet cokes. She looked offended and I felt like a jerk. I thought she was ordering for 2.
Most thread worthy thread ever threaded. To be honest we should just make a hotballa story's/questions thread.
I'm naturally darker skinned, but I still feel insecure and feel the need to go tanning. But now I don't know, if there are insensitive jerks judging and laughing at people like us, then I just don't know if I feel confident enough to go tanning.
Funny how there's often people with darker skin that seek ways to make their skin lighter, and there's lighter skin people seeking ways to make their skin darker. What gives? Love yourself people!
Tanning at a salon or tanning by laying out? If the former, I think that's weird because she'd tan so easily in regular sunlight. I don't know why you'd pay for that.
Cleverly subtle remark about stereotypes and irony. /meta rep Does anyone else think that's so artificial, it's hot?
