Not a bad idea, mainly because Calderon is a better facilitator but not because Calderon is a much better shooter than Terry. However, at this point in Calderon's career, he is no longer an adequate starter for the Rockets. With 2 more years remaining in his contract, Calderon as a backup would be too expensive. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind having Terry stick around making Veteran Minimum for 2 more years. Terry brings championship experience to the squad.

February 19th, see if the Knicks can be enticed into a classic salary dump...

Terry/Papa/Jones/Brewer/Shved + NO first rounder + NY second rounder (2015)

    For

    Carmelo/Prigioni

    PG Bev/Prigioni/Canaan
    SG Harden/Johnson
    SF Ariza/(Carmelo)
    PF Carmelo/Smith
    C Dwight/D-Mo/Dorsey/Capela

We would have to sign some players to provide wing depth and this would be a tremendous financial gamble on our part. That said, if you can't win with a squad this loaded you're never going to win.

P.S. I won't be heartbroken if/when this never happens. Just an idea

He is the best PG for the team. Big enough to guard the tall guards of the east like RW and EB, shift on defensive rotations without getting destroyed, and get some solid rebounds. I'm starting to love the idea of MCW on this team.

    Today's random thought

Howard, Beverley, Jones, Dorsey, NOP pick and NYK 2nd round pick
    ...for...
    Garnett, Jack, Teletovic, and Plumlee

Rockets -make a push for a ring - KMH and KG (useful filler 1yr/$12M) are old friends so KG will not veto the trade. Jack's skill set would be a welcome fit ($6.3M /3yr). Plumlee (rookie/3 more yrs) and DMo together going forward is very positive. Teletovic (more useful filler 1yr/$3.3M) is a skill set that fits really well but he may cost to much to keep in free agency agency.

Nets - Get Howard, replace all positions traded with players equally talented, PLUS GET SOME PICKS for Plumlee, an average point guard and expiring contract. Jones is a versatile power forward that fits well both Howard or Lopez. Beverley would strive in the East just like Howard. Howard is out not finished he is only 29 years old and will make a come back next season.

Agree(of course)....the kid is long, athletic as Hell, likes to pass, likes to go after rebounds, can play D, and will take direction from a very strong team, with many guys that he can look up to and learn from. It blows me away that Philly wants to trade him....no off the court problems....all I can see is his lack of shooting, and is a little careless handling the ball(gets over-excited). On a team filled with vets, and a coach that he should respect, some of these things will probably take care of themselves in time. Bulk him up a bit, and he could be a terror. MCW!!!!!

Is there any chance we can get DJ augustin? He started the year off poorly, but has been balling now.

The press did mention he was on the trading block during the draft, but I haven't heard anything since then. Do you have a link, that says Philly wants to trade him now?

MCW reminds me a lot of a young Darren Williams...his ability to get to the rim at will...good vision on the court(not as good as DW, but learning)...his size is something you can't teach...6'6" PGs are rare...at least good ones. The fact that Sam Hinkie and DM have a good working relationship makes me think that something fair could be worked out for both teams....Hell, Hinkie took Royce White off of our hands....I just hope that something happens fast so that kid can start gelling with his new teammates, and I can order an MCW Rockets jersey!

A little blurb about MCW stepping up when Tony Wroten has missed time "Tony Wroten has now missed 8 games this year. In those, Michael Carter-Williams averaging 19.3 pts, 9.8 asts, 8.1 rebs, 2.2 stls, 0.7 blks."

Regardless of how you feel about Bev(I'm a big fan, of him coming off of the bench), MCW could really help the Rockets moving forwards, and making some noise in the playoffs....and he's locked into a very friendly contract for the next three years(qualifying offer) at around 3 million per. Why not kick the tires?

Article from NBC Pro Basketball Talk from 3 weeks ago:

    How good is Michael Carter-Williams?

That’s one of the key questions the 76ers face as they continue to rebuild.

What’s clear: Carter-Williams, who won the 2014 Rookie of the Year, is the 76ers’ most-accomplished player.

That’s a big reason they reportedly tried hard to trade him before the draft (maybe to land Dante Exum). There’s a real chance Carter-Williams’ stock never gets higher than it was last season.

This year, he’s averaging 15.3 points, 7.2 assists and 4.4 turnovers per game. He’s shooting 38.1 percent from the field and 23.7 percent on 3-pointers. He’s still productive and young, but that’s not the type of progress Philadelphia hoped to see.

    Chad Ford of ESPN:

I’ve heard a lot of rumblings from GMs that Carter-Williams is available. There are some in ownership and in the front office, though not all, that don’t see him as a long-term piece of the puzzle. There was a lot of chatter that direction before the draft and in the past few weeks I know several teams have had exploratory discussions with the Sixers. I think the challenge right now is that the Sixers will want a lot in return and MCW’s play, to date this season, hasn’t warranted multiple first round picks for him. That makes him tough to deal.

The 76ers are in asset-acquisition mode, so Carter-Williams’ stylistic fit in Philadelphia is probably not a key factor in discussions. The bigger concern is how much he could fetch.

The Rockets, Heat, Lakers, Pacers and Knicks would make some sense as trade partners, but why would any of them value Carter-Williams more than the 76ers do? That’s the question that will drive these trade talks, and if Sam Hinkie wants multiple first rounders, it’s hard to find a suitable answer to that question.

Most likely, the 76ers will hold onto Carter-Williams, keep tanking and hope he blossoms into a better player who can help more once they’re ready to win. But if another team makes a strong trade offer before that, I doubt Hinkie is committed to keeping Carter-Williams

I doubt it...with Jennings done for the year, he's probably Detroit's guy. He is ballin.

That's what I was thinking, but I was also thinking maybe they think they have should just tank and get a better pick.

Albeit since SVG is the general manager also, he probably wouldn't care for that angle.

The problem that I see with Detroit, and Phoenix, and probably even Denver(to a lesser extent) is that they are fringe playoff teams, and parting ways with good players for picks sends a message to the fans....I'd love to have DJ on the Rockets...The last 5 games for him....averaging 18pts, 9 assts. That's awesome....and what we need. MCW in last 5 games 13pts, 8 rebs, 9assts.....and lastly, Bev's last 5 games...8pts, 3 rebs, 3assts...while shooting 30% from the field, and 18% from deep. <------Not good
