Yes! Some of the scenes from the early Werner Herzog films sometimes feel like Popol Vuh's music videos. What great collaborations! <iframe width="700" height="475" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7yHrAA6-11U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Morning Phase by Beck I think Grammy was more of a lifetime achievement award than anything. It's a great album, but ranks somewhere in the middle of his discography. And then to see #whoisbeck hashtags on twitter makes me sad. One, because it means I am obviously old, and two, because the current state of popular music is so depressingly awful...I feel bad for kids these days...they just don't know any better.
Starting to really enjoy XTC. Listening to random stuff of theirs...most recently Senses Working Overtime.
Ha! Always good to hear from a (or soon to be) XTC fan. Truly a stellar band and amongst my favorites of all time. If I had to pick just a couple of their albums, they would be 'Black Sea' and 'English Settlement'.
Strange that this went down because I've been listening to the whole Beck discography lately on Spotify. I had really only listened to Guero and Modern Guilt over the years so I never got a chance to really delve into everything like Sea Change. Quality stuff man, a great artist. Sad that he had to have his career questioned by winning a sham award.
The whole thing with Beck and the Grammies is the main reason why I don't watch bullsh!t like that. Beck has been around for over 20 years and has a classic discography with albums like Mellow Gold, Odelay, Sea of Change, Guero, among others. This latest album "Morning Phase" may not be as good as "Mutations" but wins the Grammy? And then you have all these people who act like that they just have "found" Beck?? What a *****ing joke - I think DC is right that this "award" was given to Mr. Hansen mainly in appreciation for his long and innovative career.
Oh and more German music: Harmonia - Musik von Harmonia Tangerine Dream - Phaedra Faust - Faust IV Michael Hoenig - Departure From the Northern Wasteland Agitation Free - Malesch
Listening to the new Purity Ring- Another Eternity Would be awesome if they made a stop at SXSW again this year. But they are probably now bigger than the festival.
