Got a feeling that Herman will outwork any of those who have gone before. He is "driven" and smart. Expectations are high. Surely he will figure out a way to beat UTSA and Tulane. I still can't believe that UH lost to those teams, especially the home opener-the worst case stadium opening. You only get one shot at that. UH ought to have an "official" reopening of the stadium.

    this was a HUGE get.

Whispers that it may come down to the wire on his grades (qualifying).

Nice class by Herman and staff. Nothing shocking...but very solid.

Considering the circumstances, it's a solid haul.

If you compare it to Briles/Sumlin/Levine's first year, it's very good.

To this anonymous rep comment (why do CFB threads always inspire these...?)

Briles was hired in the first week of December.

Sumlin was hired in the second week of December.

Tom Herman didn't even get to start recruiting until the third week of January.

When you factor in this extremely limited time frame, compared to his first-year predecessors, he did a really good job.

He would have gotten a quality education if he had stayed at UH. I found UH to be excellent overall. My only complaint is that most of my professors were from other countries and had heavy accents. UH has probably one of the largest international student populations of any school in the US which adds to the diversity of the campus culture. The "Cougar High" days have likely been gone since the early 1960's when UH was a private party school and there were many commuters. It now has one of the largest on campus populations of any school in the state.

Are you ****ing kidding me? UH is a tier One university and it is a great school to receive one of the top education in the world.

Then again, I doubt he would've earned his job back here.

Question is, who is gonna be playing QB? Adam Schulz is transferring from Utah, but I'm guessing he'll have to sit a year before he's eligible? I'm also guessing Greg Ward isn't gonna be starting this year. We had a 3-star recruit in Bear Fenimore come in last year - could he be a possibility?

U of H is at best the fifth best school in the state itself, and Michigan is one of the top public schools in the country (especially when schools like Berkeley and UVA aren't held to exactly the same enrollment expectations), but it's irrelevant because since the '70s top-shelf college footballers have focused more on getting drafted than picking a career, so choice of major and grades suffer. If he does apply himself he might get some better job opportunities out of school and a little more visibility from Chicago and possibly New York job markets.

How did my comment get twisted into a stab at UH academics?

I'm a proud Coog NSM class of 2009!

At least someone got the joke :p
