Maybe it's just me but everytime I watch a Suns game to see how Dragic plays he doesn't play very well. I think we may be overrating him just a bit here in Houston cuz of what we have at PG and we are pretty desperate for someone better. I think he would really help the Rockets but he wouldn't be putting up last years numbers imo. The guy is good but not as good as some of the trades people are willing to make for him lol

So we are now back on the Dragic bandwagon and no Lawson or Knight.

I hope we get KMart. I can go back to hanging out with him and Brew at Treasures.

I just don't understand this line of reasoning. When the Rockets had Lowry/Dragic/Martin, did anybody really think we were going to win a playoff game, let alone series? No. Yet Morey, one of the smartest GMs in the league, held on to Dragic despite his pending FA because he felt like the young Rockets needed the playoff experience.

This is no different. Even if the Suns feel as though they will lose Dragic, getting those players playoff experience would be invaluable. It's likely they won't get fair value for him, so why not roll with what you've got and if you lose Dragic, then you'll have some extra spending money to nab an Afflalo type player in the offseason. On top of that, you have some phenomenal trade assets to upgrade your team right now without giving up Dragic.

Yeah but it becomes pretty hard to sell them on that when they squeak by making the playoffs then get destroyed in the first round and lose Gogi in FA.

PHX may well feel they can make the p/o's.
PHX may well feel they can effect an SnT for GD in July.
Or maybe PHX feels they can find Frye II.

With 30 teams the TD is extremely dynamic. And frankly unpredictable.

Dragic is in a difficult situation with guard heavy/guard young PHX. The team that trades for him and/or signs him long term, assuming he doesn't remain a Sun long term (as if), is projecting what he can and would do in the system he is being acquired into.

Would you be willing to give up Dmo in a Dragic trade?

What the Rockets have any interest in Amar'e if he's bought out? Supposedly, both sides are currently considering this option.

Insurance. Who knows how this whole Dwight injury saga is going to play out.

It's Josh Smith Part II. He's bought out, we're a playoff team and playing time is readily available.

Fair enough, but Amare is pretty close to worthless as a basketball player at this point, and I don't think anyone wants him at the 5. Would he be a better option than Joey Dorsey? I'm not exactly sure he would be.

With Dwight Howard possibly not 100% this year, I don't think Morey makes a move that limits us in FA for the next couple of years with the tier of stars that will be entering the market...

I'm betting he makes an unexpected move for cap relief or that better positions us for upcoming FA's. I'm thinking a small upgrade at PG or C.

Lawson, Rubio, etc doesn't seem like a Morey move unless there's some kind of breakdown where he can rob their GM's.

If anything big happens, it's gotta be Dragic at a discount trade scenario.

To be fair: he's far from worthless as a basketball player. He can still play. He's an 18-10 player PER36. He puts the ball in the basket, which could be useful considering how often times our offense goes stale in the 4th quarter.

The problem, of course, is his health. You can't depend upon him, and I suppose it would be counter-intuitive to sign one injury-prone player as "insurance" to another injury-prone player. But I have to admit I'm mildly intrigued by the idea. Especially, if it keeps him from signing with Dallas, OKC, etc.

Fair enough. I wouldn't expect it to happen, but who knows?

Amare is a zero defensively and he doesn't shoot the 3. We won't be interested. Take that to the bank.

I am changing my position on Dragic and that's from somebody that was pissed that Morey was not able to retain him.

Dragic wants a max contract or something close to it. If we trade for him, and sign him for a new contract close to the max, we will have almost no room to retain our band of brothers. I like our bench and I think when Jones becomes more effective, a bench of Smith, Brewer, Jones, Terry, and Bev will pretty much destroy other team's second units.

Dragic is good, but not that good if he kills our cap. My guess is that Morey will get us a 2nd tier pg and we roll with it. I think the time is pretty close when we stand pat, add a few pieces here and there and let this core group of players grow as a team.
