http://grantland.com/the-triangle/lauren-holtkamp-nba-referee-d-league-wnba/ Link to the article I referenced. If there's a video out there showing these tech fouls I would appreciate someone who shares it here. Rep will be awaiting you!
Yeah, Paul is going to get some sort of discipline for that. Knowing him and how the NBA is, probably 10K fine and that's all. Of course he is trying to make himself look innocent with that isolated incident but he was at the refs the whole game, like always. I appreciate the female ref having the guts to call that tech on him and on those who deserved it. She has more guts than 95% of NBA refs in that situation. Need more refs like her. An aside. Paul's interview was smart. The reason for his interview was not but him taking what he thought was unfair to the media is the best way to get what you want. Now that its in the media, people are gonna be talking about it. Won't be surprised if Paul and the Clippers get some favorable calls in the next couple of weeks. If Harden/the Rockets feel like he is getting the short change by the refs and not getting the right foul calls, they should take it to the media as well. If there is some sort of conspiracy against Harden and his free throws, shine light on it to make it go away.
Paul got a tech for literally nothing. It was a terrible call, and he's right, if those are the sort of calls she's going to make, it isn't for her.
Geez. It's not like he said "this is why women shouldn't be refs in the NBA". They're making something out of nothing.
How can Chris Paul seem like such a great guy I'd the court, but such a douche on the court? He and Steph Curry strike me as fake good guys.
Jordan's tech & foul on Mozgov were funny on the broadcast. The announcers asked "How can they argue that call?" Then on the tech, they didn't see any actions that warented a tech & said "he musta said something". Then they reran the play with the audio turned up & "______God dammit" was plain as day(I didn't catch the word or 2 starting the phrase). Then Shaq's comment "Oh that's a tech". When the camera caught CP & Lauren Holtkamp talking during the game, I got the impression that CP was more upset about having to look her in the eye while arguing with her than anything else.
He's insanely competitive. How else can a guy with average speed and strength still be one of the top players in the game? He didn't technically say anything sexist here, but he lost his temper and he should have known people would be sensitive. His PR team will help him smooth this over.
The Clips got what they were asking for. They were acting like punks the entire game. Jordan was all puffed-up and macho, trying to intimidate, committing obvious fouls, mouthing off, then complaining to the ref when he'd get the foul. Dude's lucky the league wasn't waiting for him after the game with a piss cup. It was almost as if he's hopped up on something. Or probably still tweaked not to be an All Star.
You are wrong that's not what happened I saw the broadcast twice. They replayed it he clearly looked at the opposing player and cursed. he said "god damm you" You could hear clearly and he taunted him after a dunk. You cannot do that in the NBA it's unsportman like conduct and everyone knows that except for you apparently, lol. The ESPN broadcasters said what did he do? then they replayed it and they were like oh ok because we could all hear what he said to the other guy after he scored on him.
BTW Shaq was not a broadcaster he was in the studio nowhere in the stadium. They deserved all of there techs please look up what it takes to get a tech and you will understand. You disagree because you don't know. They were mouthing off and she called it by the book that's what they couldn't stand.
Media goes out of its way to pretend like there's some sexist story here. Barkley comes out and flat out says women shouldn't be referees almost 20 years ago and nobody cared. The media took it for what it was and that was that, instead of manufacturing bull****. Rubbing sticks together to make a fire.
You can call a tech for any of these things and she did. Baiting or taunting an opponent Disrespectfully addressing or contacting an official or gesturing in such a manner as to indicate resentment Faking being fouled (flopping)
I believe that's basically what I said. As for "Shaq's" comment, I couldn't remember who the announcers were; so I took a stab at it. My bad.
nope. Clippers are the worst flopping, crying, wanna-be tough guy act in all of basketball. They deserve even more technical fouls called.
