How does Josh Smith have anything to do with Capela? Smith is a Power Forward, Capela is a center. Anyway, I see Capela as potentially the eventual replacement for Howard so I'd give the kid a bit more time before ditching him. Also, he hasn't done enough to make his trade value worth a damn, so you'd be selling super low.
The problem with doing that is if you trade DMo you don't have a starting caliber PF and you have no depth at the 5. Honestly right now DMo is the 2nd best player on the team with Howard being gimped up, you don't trade that to a team desperate to get something for a player before they walk in FA. Make them take Jones instead.
Agree with the backup depth at the 5, but I'm thinking long term here in the playoffs. If Howard's out, its a moot point anyways, we arent going anywhere. Also agree about Dmo being our 2nd best player, but Dragic would essentially become that anyways.
I just think that since the pressure is on the Suns to find a trade partner, they have to get Gogi traded or lose him for nothing. For us, we need a PG, but it doesn't have to be Gogi so we are in the position of power which means we don't have to offer up our 2nd best player for a potential rental of Dragic. It's doubtful any other team would do that either.
The lineup is better but not by a whole lot, with Howard's health. It's not good enough to go deep into the playoffs. D-Mo has also proven he can substitute for Howard to some extent. I like Jones too, but I am willing to give him up somewhat reluctantly for Goran in a package if it works. The 3 way deal proposed by some of our posters, with the Nets sounds plausible to me.
I agree, but I guess it's a hypethetical. Let's say Lawson or a higher caliber player is not available. last minute of the deadline, Phoenix says Dmo or no deal. What do you do? Do you do that or just get a Jared Jack type a player? I'd be very tempted by the prospect of adding Goran.
I say no deal and call their bluff, I really don't think they'll have THAT many suitors to where they can demand the Rockets give up DMo. PG is one of the deepest positions in the NBA so if the Suns want to play hardball, I have faith that Morey could find a diamond in the rough and deal elsewhere. Also PG isn't such a need that we would have to mortgage the future in order to make that upgrade now. That said, Gogi is by far on the top of my list since he seems to be a perfect fit.
That's because he could sign an extension if we acquired him. Or he could sign a contract with us after the season, especially if we go deep into the playoffs.
I'm not arguing that he's a star player yet.......but there are definitely signs of it. Did you see DMo owning Noah in the post, or going 10-13 from the field against Detroit's huge front line? Right now he's consistently playing at an above average level, with a few games sprinkled in that make you wonder if he couldn't take the next step. He is inches, not yards, away from being an all-star caliber player. A few more 3 point attempts per game while maintaining 35% 3 point shooting, a few more rebounds, and just one more assist and you've got a multi-dimensional superstar. Just my opinion of course, but I think he will get there. Per the staff and FO, he is one of the hardest working guys on the team. Players that have that kind of drive and his level of talent tend to work out eventually.....sometimes you just have to be very patient.
Would be willing to gamble on ODB running the one <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3ISNzb8g4Xc?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I think they can both be very good off the bench, but when they are starting, you have a hole on your team. It's sort of like Patrick Beverley, he's starting for the Rockets, I'm sure there are other teams he might start for, but when you have Bev starting, you need an upgrade.
Nobody is giving up a Superstar for DMO after one good season of basketball. Dude is balling out of control right now but he has to play this way for more than a half of a season. Two seasons or more gents.
Josh have been starting his entire NBA career. Jones played solid last season as a starter and would be starting this season if it wasn't for the injury. Let's keep it 200 pimpn.
You get Jack and sign Dragic in FA during the offseason. Jack is enough to get out of the 1st rd of the playoffs. Without a healthy Howard the Rockets aren't winning a championship anyway.
And Josh was so great as a starter that he was paid to go away and potentially play against their team. He's settled in to a bench role, and is thriving as a result.....he's a bench guy. As to Jones, sure he started, but when he was starting, we thought our biggest need on the team was a legit PF remember? Sort of like how Bev is starting, but we all want an upgrade there..... Again, sure Smith and Jones can start, but if they do, your team needs an upgrade.
there isn't even a player that comes close to being a superstar that's been suggested for dmo And superstars really only get traded when contract expiring becomes an issue
Dragic can't be had in FA because the Rockets won't have the money, it's either in trade, or not at all.
