What would it take to bring DeMarcus Cousins to Houston

From a purely talent standpoint, nothing short of Harden.

It would take Cousins demanding a trade and torpedoing his value to keep the Kings from negotiating something steep. Others have done this in the past...think of Vince Carter's last days in Toronto. After watching Boogie last night, we might not be that far away from seeing that happen.

Even if it comes to this, you'd likely have to give up D-Mo, Capela, and the NO pick to start the conversation.

As long as we're dreaming, why not just sign Marc Gasol? He'll be the [potential] free agent.

 

We have Josh Smith, add Boogie. Get back artest from china or trade for J.R. Smith. Then, lance for PG and Dion for SG. As a coach we should get another great power forward sheed wallace. Would be fun to watch...

Why settle for Cousins when Anthony Davis is available?

Davis is younger and better.

It would take Sac continuing to suck. They'd never give him up in a trade (unless he wanted out).

I'd absolutely love to get Cousins on this team. Outside of the obvious guys (KD LBJ Davis Paul), there is no one else I'd rather have on this team along-side Harden. Having two guys who you can actually give it to in the post and rely on them to score would be huge (D Mo being the other one) and it would take A TON of pressure off of James.

 

Cousins' contract expires first. The Pelicans have AD for another 6 years at the least. Harden and AD could end up playing together, but it's very unlikely that it would be in Houston.

Cousins will probably end up in Phoenix. I think we have a better shot at Anthony Davis though. Another year of missing the playoffs and James will be calling his buddy up.

Why do I think that it's likely that there's a "What would it take to bring James Harden to Sacramento" thread in a Kings forum somewhere?

 

I really only see two ways we can get Cousins.

1. He demands to be traded and Houston is on the very short list of destinations he'd accept.
2. He is a free agent and we have max room.

Look at what Minnesota just got for Kevin Love! Call me crazy, but I think Cousins is more valuable. Also, "Boogie and the Beard" would be such an awesome duo name.

 

No. We will wait for Durant before we pursue another big name like DMC.
