And Montana never made it to a 5th and 6th Super Bowl. Do you want to pull up a list of the QB's he lost to during those failed playoff runs as evidence of why he isn't the best?
I can't really keep arguing against Brady. His numbers in the postseason and his number of wins make him the greatest Postseason QB of all time. If that is your criteria for "greatest QB of all time" then so be it.
My memory must be terrible but which other playoff game did Brady and New England lose to Sanchez and the Jets apart from the 2010-11 AFC Divisional matchup? I find it hard to believe the Jets AND Mark Sanchez, beat the Patriots twice in the playoffs with Brady on the field but maybe it happened and I just forgot.
This is a good look. I personally don't know how Manning is in the conversation. Yes, he didn't have the great Hoodie as coach. But you can't consistently underperform when it matters most. To me, it's Brady vs. Montana. The next tier includes Manning, Elway, Marino. Rodgers may ultimately join Brady and Montana, but it depends on how the rest of his career goes. He's certainly had a hell of 7 year run. It's really too bad he was injured in the playoffs this year and the Packers threw away the championship game. My suspicion is he ends up as the best of the second group of QBs when he's done... As for Brady vs. Montana, I give it to Brady by a hair. More superbowl appearances, more playoff games and a more prolific regular season, a lot of which is down to the fact he's started more than 40 games more than Montana did in the regular season already, but longevity has to account for something.... The only thing I can't get past, or figure out how to factor in, is the "cheating". To use a baseball analogy, it's definitely not Barry Bonds / A-Rod level cheating, but then it's not Bagwell sportswriter maybe he cheated crap either that is just a wild ass guess. They appear to have cheated, even if its not clear how much or to what extent, etc.
As with everything. We should award it to the best-hung QB. Let's start with the speculation of Montana and lets get to Brady afterwards. Manning? Meh.
Give Belichick Warren Moon in that system, 8-peat minimum. There's accomplishments , then th res ability. No one would take , all else being equal, Teammates & coaching, Brady or Bradshaw over Marino. Are you talking greatest qb's resumes, or greatest qb's. If combination of both, it's probably still Montana.
Combination of both. Solid arguments could be made for Brady and Montana. Bradshaw...eh. I think most would put Elway above Bradshaw(I might be wrong but I doubt it).
No one complained about Moss and Welker when Brady had 50 TD's and won MVP in 2007... So you can't blame his receiving core for him choking up in the AFC championship and in the super bowl. Brady has never won league MVP nor has he made the AP 1st team or 2nd team during the Patriots super bowl winning years. Brady had arguably the most dangerous WR ever in Moss and the most dangerous TE ever in Gronk... And the years he was top 2-3 in numbers as you stated he didn't win nothing and he's 1-2 in super bowls with those guys (although Gronk didn't play in the 2nd super against the Giants). Brady was garbage last year in the playoffs without Gronk and he was garbage at the beginning of the year when Gronk wasn't playing full time yet. Plus prior to this year _ Flacco has outplayed him in their previous playoff meetings. Sorry, but all of those aren't 'GOAT like' qualities. Plus It's too difficult to label any quarterback the GOAT because quarterback may be considered the most important position but it can also be considered the most dependent position on their team and coaching. Do you honestly think that New England, San Francisco, and Dallas wouldn't have won championships if they had John Elway... Do you honestly think Brady, Montana, or Aikman could have gotten those Denver teams to 3 super bowls like Elway did...??? I said I would argue that Brady is a great quarterback and probably the most accomplished... I just don't think he's the GOAT. And it's not because I'm biased... I'm just not a prisoner of the moment like you guys are and forgotten history.
Moon? Over Brady Over Montana The same Warren Moon that was benched for Cody Carlson? Obviously Moon was good or he wouldn't be in the HOF, but to put him on the Mt Rushmore of qbs? Never lead his team to a Super Bowl, and if I'm not mistaken he never even played in a conference championship.
I believe if Moon had the teams and coaches Montana and Brady had he would have at least one super bowl victory. And Moon isn't appreciated at all in Houston so I should have never brought him up. He's thought of as garbage around here so forget I mentioned him.
i'm not going to disrespect previous generations and make this claim. He belongs there with montana and unitas, paper scissors rock, can't go wrong. what is being disregarded in this conversation is the hoody and by doing so a hundred years of football are being insulted. Hoody is the closest thing to darth vader we will ever see and we should appreciate it. You're delusional if you don't think hoody doesn't get four rings with a phillip rivers. The system plays a major role in the success of a quarterback. Brady was on the sidelined when pete was mind tricked into passing the ball. Ugh there should only be two reasons to pass a ball from the one yard line with a timeout and a qb that can throw a pass from 25 yards out in less than 2 seconds. one, you're the lions and throw a billion pass attempts per game. two, chris brown is your running back. that's why i roll my eyes when i hear local personalities say, "the patriots way". it took failures and willingness to learn from his failures to create this maniacal sob known as the hoody.
Yeah when you blow a huge lead in the playoffs against a backup qb that is still considered the biggest meltdown in playoff history fans tend to move on.
Dude, you are clueless. "If Moon had the teams Montana and Brady had"? Seriously? That '93 team that blew a 35-3 lead in the playoffs was loaded with pro bowlers (Moon, Munchak, Matthews, Jeffries, Slaughter, L.White made the pro bowl that yr, Childress, Sean Jones). That's almost HALF THEIR FREAKIN TEAM!!!!! The yr before besides most of these same guys William Fuller, Al Smith & Dishman made the pro bowl. Their punter Montgomery made the pro bowl. Again Moon was definitely a very good qb, or he wouldn't be in the HOF. Putting him on the Mt Rushmore of qbs is crazy, but if that's your opinion, well I guess have at it.
But that's why coaching is far more important in the NFL than any other sport... a team with all that talent had no business losing (except if you have inept coaches who employ gimmicky schemes because they aren't good enough to devise opponent-specific gamelans). You put Brady on those Oiler teams, and they may never even get out to a 35-3 lead. Vice-versa, I don't see Moon blowing many huge leads with Belicheck.
Outside of Houston no one knew who Moon's receivers were... And you're out of your mind if you think the Houston teams and coach were better than San Francisco and Dallas teams and coaches. Pro Bowls aren't shyt... Vince Young made a pro bowl. Lol.. And 35-3 lead... My bad. I didn't know Moon was supposed to play defense too. Anyway, I have Elway, Marino, and Johnny U on my Mount Rushmore as well so know need to slit your wrist over Moon.
LMAO VY making the ProBowl negates 10+ guys from the same team being ProBowlers. Man, the stupid things people say to justify their arguments.
