Agreed. Plus he's going to get better. He has high BBiq amazing work ethic and determination. Something you can't say for most centers nowadays. It's only his third year too.
That's only example. Can you give at least 5. And I'm talking about a GM telling people they would rather have X player over their current Superstar.
I'm on board with Knight and Ilyasova.....at the right price. Ersan has negative value in any trade, given his drop off from 3 and recurring injuries. I'd be ok with sending out Capela, Papanikolaou, TJones, Shved and the NYK 2nd in a 3 team trade. Including the NOP 1st would be overpaying, given that Knight is a RFA this summer and IS NOT a top 50 player. Otherwise, I would move on to the next deal. Read the article below for Knight's impact on the Bucks. In short, when he plays the Bucks are worse for it. It could be system or a litany of other things, but he seems to be a very high turnover player and his entire improvement over last year can be attributed to better 3 point shooting. That does not scream good facilitator to me. Brandon Knight's Improvement?
i have read a lot of this but have no idea obviously. but i hope something happens soon just so i can have something factual to read about. it is going to be an interesting playoffs regardless.
IF Knight was a perfect facilitator he would already have been extended at the max and be a franchise player. It is his deficiency and the reason that he may be available. On the other hand in the Rockets playing off the ball next to Harden his usage and turnovers will go down while Harden will do the main playmaking. That's the perfect role for Knight. Ilyasova doesn't have negative value. His value is around an early second round.Your proposed deal isn't even close to get Knight. What about giving a 10 day contract to Nate Wolters? NO decided to let him go. He can't shoot but he has excellent defence and is a very good facilitator.
The reason I'm asking you about GA is because of Parker and Middleton. GA is basically a skinny 7-footer with miles of length. When he actually grows into his body I don't see how he's going to be able to be kept in the backcourt. He's going to be too valuable defensively at the 3/4 for that. Jabari is obviously a 4/3. In my opinion Jabari and Giannis have to be the starting forwards of the future. Giannis may turn out to be the primary playmaker but he's going to be needed up front for defense. That leaves Middleton at shooting guard. While I think Middleton is a great player I don't see him being effective defensively at the 2. So two questions: 1. If Milwaukee doesn't want to pay BK $13-14 million per season, why would they want to pay Middleton $9-10 million per season? And are they prepared to let Middleton walk if he gets an offer exceeding 4/40? 2. What team is going to offer BK $13-14 million per season rather than chase Goran or Rondo or RJackson that Milwaukee would be so concerned with that they decide to trade BK instead of gamble on him not receiving that high of an offer?
DeAndre Jordan is nothing without Chris Paul .... Guess what Dwight would look like with Chris Paul spoon feeding him easy bucket after easy bucket. This team hasnt even figured out how to properly entry feed Dwight. 2 years in and still bounce passing in traffic.
Yeah, chenjy9, could you go scour the Internet and other fan sites and find instances of insiders claaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiming (yeah, right!) to have overheard GMs mouthing off about wanting such-and-so player over their current superstar. Don't worry, we'll wait. (cue Jeopardy theme music....da da da da, da da da, da da da da DUHN da da da da da, da da da da da da da, DUHN da da da da da DUHN) Time's up. The question was, Give 5 examples other than Morey wanting Deandre Jordan over Dwight Howard where a GM has mouthed off about wanting a less-heralded player over a superstar. And the correct answers are, Mitch Kupchak secretly hoping Dwight Howard would go away so he could sign someone else, anyone else; Otis Smith in Orlando, saying, "I wish this muhf***a would just go away, I'd take that cupcake Collins over Howard"; Masai Ujiri in Denver saying, "Melo can take his mushmouth grammar and that pain-in-the-culo wife with him, I'll take Chandler and that Eye-talian fella"; Bob Whitsitt in Portland saying, "Hell with Drexler's ego, I'll take...eff it...Otis Thorpe"; and almost anything that came out of Isiah Thomas' mouth when he was Knicks' President of Basketball Operations. Let's start with you Chenjy9. You answered, "What is 'I got jacks**t?'" Oooooh, I'm sorry. What did you bet? THE HOUSE. I'm sorry, Chenjy9. Looks like you're homeless. Now you, htownballer38. You answered, "What is 'I told you so'?" Judges? Oooooh, I'm sorry. What did you bet? Nothing! So you're in the lead....
The honest answer is probably yes. Dwights D is much better IMO and he is better with the ball in his hands trying to score. The problem with Dwight is that he plays outside of his capabilities on offense too much where as D Jordan appears to be perfectly content to score off of lobs, rebound like everything in sight and block as many shots as possible. Basically he plays within himself. And then there is that little thing known as health.
You yourself said that the Bucks have played better without Knight. I'd encourage you to read the article I posted. After rummaging through a series of statistics, the author all but stated that Knight is fools gold. He's shooting better from 3 and is focusing more on catch and shoot 3s this year......we can get that from Patrick Beverley. I think you are remembering the Ilyasova of 2 years ago.....not the Ilyasova of today. He's shot 29% from 3 since the beginning of last season, his rebounding has tanked, and he's played in just 63% of the Bucks games over the last 2 years. I don't think the reason he wasn't traded earlier this year was because the Bucks couldn't get enough for them.......it's because they couldn't get anything for him. Teams were probably asking for a 2nd just to take him on. What the Rockets get out of Knight and Ilyasova is a gamble with reasonable potential. They are by no means sure things. Knight could just as easily be a Josh Smith type contract as he could be a Ty Lawson. The perception of Knight changed this year because he's shooting better.....nothing more.
Excellent questions. Thanx for the interesting discussion. GA is right now groomed to be a secondary playmaker. But because so far his jumpshot is bad (not broken though. ) he is most effective at the 4 on offence. Right now Kidd is utilising constant rotations and trying to clog up the lanes to create turnovers and attack in transition. That's why GA is mainly used against the other teams best player. 1.Middleton is perfect for SG. He has a breakout year and huge improvement as defence goes. He is the perfect fit for the system coz he is long has active hands quick in the rotations and help defence has added a nice post up game against other guards and he is shooting as one of the best in the league. He is much better fit than Knight but Knight is the one who fills the boxscore who gets they hype and who is the first round pick. Also keep in mind that the difference that has been leaked to be right now was only two millions per. I would pay 10 million per in a heartbeat and unless the FO is completely idiotic they will do as well. 2.They won't let anyone walk. They would negotiate and reach an agreement or sign and trade or trade at this deadline. They may not like it but we still have a lot of capspace to let them walk. Let the market determine the price as you said. Knight is much better than R.Jackson. He is also younger than Rondo and Dragic. Rondo has been getting exposed right now at the mavs imo he can't shoot at all so his free market price will go down. The teams who will look for pg this summer are : Knicks Kings maybe the Jazz( Burke is terrible) and the Bucks. I cant' think of someone else atm. I can see Knicks and Kings going after Knight as soon as Dragic resigns to the Suns. It takes only one team with big capspace to give someone a max offer. And we both know that Kings and Knicks are not the brightest FO's around.
Dragic won't happen since they will be fighting for playoff spot with the Pelicans. Lawson could be a maybe but their asking price may be too much.
Doc did a wonderful job of selling this to DJ when he took reins in Clipperville. Frankly the best move he has made to date; perhaps the only really good move.
THIS...most centers (especially in today's NBA) primary focus should be on rebounding and blocking shots. Deandre does just that and does not try to do too much. He plays to his strengths and does those things very well.
You're not understanding the difference between wanting him, or not, and not believing Morey would say he wants him over Dwight, in casual conversation. I would go as far as to say 75% of people would want him right now, over Dwight. We get why Morey wants him. We don't get why he'd put it out there for Dwight to get butthurt over it. I think, either your source is extremely cool with Morey, or he took it a bit out of context.
