So there are rumors besides the Dragic angle.... up until now all i saw on the thread was about Dragic; i dont know if that is wishful thinking or actual rumor. Rockets need a point guard or at least another play maker. Harden is at his best scoring and slashing to the basket. this team makes Harden work too hard.
What if us netting Brandon Knight only came at the cost of us absorbing Larry Sanders? If he came here and honestly had no intent of ever playing in the NBA again, how would we address it? Waive him and stretch it? What would the damage be and for how long? Or is there another way to deal with his contract?
If we were to get BKnight,Henson, and or Ilyasova and get a healthy Dwight back I'd be ready to say we're a legit threat.
The Brandon Knight as an RFA on a small market team not looking to lock themselves into big long term salary looks A LOT like the OKC/Harden situation.
Khris Middleton may be the most underrated player in the NBA right now. I would welcome a deal that brings in Knight, Middleton, Ilyasova, and Henson (and hopefully Dudley too), and would be willing to send Milwaukee Ariza, Kostas, Canaan, Capela, Jones, and both our picks for a deal like that.
Available - - because a fan forum says so? BTW - - exchange Sanders for Ersan if you want a convo starter IMO.
Not sure you could get BOTH Middleton and Knight. Bucks fans seem to really appreciate Middleton. Like a Wes Mathews type player. Bucks fans are not huge on Knight as a long term "true pg." They feel he is more of a 2. Which for the Rockets with a defacto PG in Harden, seems like a good fit.
Even though as a Bucks fan that would be the ideal scenario..you don't have to worry about it. Sanders is unmovable. Noone is going to take a chance on him especially not someone as genius as Morey is. He isn't Josh Smith or McGee he is refusing to play any kind of bball and just wants to smoke pot and get the checks. Larry is Bucks problems and he will get a buyout or we will try to void his contract. I thought with the Rox cap situation and how Morey values flexibillity for next year Knight's new contract would make him a red flag but if you think that Morey is going to pay him what he is looking for then the chances of a deal imo go much up.
Most fans overrate their own players. So the fact that the Bucks fans feel like he could be available due to financial implications seemed telling. Bucks fans feel he will hit FA, get offered a big money deal and the Bucks will lose him for nothing, OR overpay.
Exactly. That's why I also said that he would be a great fit next to Harden. Middleton is looking for 10 per but our insider said that chances are it's going to be settled at 9 and we are very much high on him. But Knight at 12-13 per may be too much for us at this moment. We still have a very young very small young core and we may not be interested yet to invest all that into Knight because it's too soon. I really don't know if he will get traded or not but he is NOT untouchable.
I think Morey would give Knight $13-$14 per year for 4 years in a heartbeat. We need a PG badly and the only way we can afford a good one (without depleting our bench) is to acquire a good one on his rookie contract and have his Bird rights.
Brandon Knight and Khris Middleton added to the Rox with Ariza/Capela/Dorsey and everybody else subtracted besides Howard/Harden/DMo would allow us to have up to $11.2 million of cap space to add a significant piece during the summer free agency IF the cap simply raises to $66.5 million. If the cap goes up to $70 million as some have projected then Morey could have as much as around $15 million of cap space to add a pretty significant piece or pieces before we re-upped Knight and Middleton. Also when the cap balloons in 2016 to $80 million or so, if we have Knight at around $12 million and Middleton (or Ariza at around $7 million) plus DMo's cap hold and Harden/Howard, we're looking at significant cap space to work with in 2016 again. Although I haven't heard anything about Knight and Middleton to the Rockets, my instincts are that Morey would be very interested in acquiring both of those guys because they are RFA and have relatively low cap holds this summer that would allow us some cap flexibility to play the free agent market somewhat. And Knight is the type of point guard being bigger and more athletic and good on both ends of the court that Morey is looking for to defend against the likes of Westbrook/Paul/Parker and make those guys have to chase him around on the other end as well thereby creating space for Harden/Howard/DMo.
He is most definitely a plus defender. Very athletic and quick. Good on the ball. Gets his hands on the ball a lot, steals, tips, etc. Chases guys off the ball well. Would definitely be a hinderance to guys like Westbrook, etc.
Thanks for the update, cyberx! Have you heard anything about Brandon Knight being talked about in trade discussions or even being available?
