Once again a coach gets cute once they get down at the 1. Just because a team is expecting you to run it doesn't mean you throw it especially when you need 1 yard and the guy in the back field is hard to tackle.

Even if you don't run it with Lynch at least run an option read with Wilson and Lynch

He would take credit for the call to take the blame off either Bevell or Wilson.

It's on one of them. Bevell if he called for a pass play or Wilson if he had a packaged play and decided to opt out of a run.

Exactly! if you're going to be cute at least fake like you're going to Lynch.

It is basically 2009/10-2013 Jason Garrett for the Cowboys. That's something he would definitely have done.

Considering that they just got lucky and burned Butler the play before, I think Seattle thought they could try a pick play against the same victim...But when your that close...read option was their best play...and they risked a pass vs. goal line defense/3 wide. People will forever blame the play call, but Butler's preparation for the moment allowed him to make a great jump on the play..

I don't really get the hate on Sherman in this game. I get that he set himself up for the countless memes that will follow (lol), but I just don't understand the hate for him.

Tell me that, as a Texans fan, you wouldn't want the guy on your team, with the same personality.

If memory serves me correctly, Butler got to the spot first, and although close, managed to bump the Seahawks receiver out of the way.

Carroll said they didn't have the right personnel when he saw who the Pats sent in. So they were just going to 'waste' the play (and maybe get lucky) and run it the next 2 times.

If that's really the truth it's even more stunning.

I couldn't care less about these two teams and even I will have trouble sleeping tonight with the crazy turn of events.

I am still in shock that the Seahawks snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Talk about in the bag, over, for the win, finished. No one in their right mind calls a play like that when you have Lynch to "hammer" it in. Still can't believe it. Nullified one of the greatest catches I have ever seen in football at any level.

Crazy theory - definitely not true. Seahawks thought they would score anyways, (or at the worst throw an incompletion) wanted Russel to get SB MVP because they were tired of Marshawn's antics and thought it would be harder to get rid of him if he didn't score GW touchdown/potentially won MVP??

Well, they were on the good end of massive choke job in the championship game.

That's totally what Belichick was hoping for. It was a big roll of the dice, but statistically, he thought he had a better chance of them screwing up, than scoring again on the Seattle defense with 30 seconds or whatever.

I don't believe this "audible" crap. He wouldn't go away from Beast Mode. If anything, he should have audibled away from that pick play. Such an awful call.

Agree with posters saying that will go down as one of the worst play calls in Superbowl history.

Greatest? Eh. Ridiculously lucky more like it. I couldn't be more ecstatic the Seahawks circle jerk was finally broken

By the way, very classy reaction from Lynch if that tweet is accurate about his statements. Incredibly classy, and good for him.

After that whole video game thing, I started to love Beast Mode.

Not shocking people hate on Sherman because he talks a lot even though he backs it up.

You can't say much about Sherman this game he wasn't why they gave up 28 pts although I wish he would have shadowed Edelman

    That was from Vegas.

If sportscenter was giving the odds, they would have Seahawks 5-1, followed by cowboys 6-1 followed by Lebron 7-1, followed by Brett Favre 20-1.
