Canaan should absolutely start. Just like he started when Beverley was injured. Our guard play was INFINITELY better. Just ask Chris Paul.
I hope Canaan doesn't let tonight's game make him lose too much confidence. I think he senses he has short leash because McHale only plays him when there's injuries or out of desperation, then he goes straight to the bench, no matter if he plays well or not. Canaan should be given a fair chance like other players have gotten.
All Canaan can do is shoot threes. And he's not very good at that. His career 3 pt average in the D-league is 36.5%. He is a very small point guard that can't shoot well enough to make a difference. He's a streaky shooter, and is not the answer we need at PG. We do need an upgrade at PG, but Canaan is not the guy. I've watched his D-league games, he's nothing special.
Bev and Terry aren't playing well enough collectively to not allow Canaan to at least get a fair shot either. Hell, bring Nick Johnson back up. If the Rox are not going to make a trade to upgrade that position, they need to see completely what they have in the younger players.
I wouldn't mind seeing some of the young guys play. But it's not unusual for D-league caliber players to see very few minutes. I am confused why we haven't seen Shved for such a long time. Morey, and McHale seemed to be pretty high on the guy when we traded for him.
I think all 3 of them(Canaan, Bev, and Terry) are on the table when it comes to a trade. They're all backup pg
Yeah forgot about Shved. The way McHale was complimenting Shved, I thought he would be a rotation player by now. There's just no real direction at the pg position right now.
Guy gets iced for a month, and subs in in the 4th quarter of a blowout. Misses 5 threes, clearly cold and stiff, and he gets hammered on Clutchfans by the village cattle. Brilliant basketball minds I must say.
Has it occurred to some of you that McHale actually knew better when he didn't play Canaan while you guys were screaming for the kid?
One bad game doesn't mean he's a bad player. He’s had good games when he’s started in place of Beverley. Harden had a bad games yesterday. Does that mean he sucks? No. Beverley’s been mediocre. Terry is showing his age...so of course fans want to see what Canaan can do. I say play him. It’s not like the guys in front of him are killing it. Beverley’s not the answer. Terry’s not the answer.Canaan might be the answer. He needs playing time so we’ll know.
Have you seen the alternative? Have you been watching Bev and Terry lately? We need to get Canaan into rhythm, so he can help when those two aren't on (which is getting more frequent). Now if we can get an upgrade on all 3 of our PGs, I say go for it. But right now, you can't rule out Canaan because we badly need production out of that position.
Because the last time he saw the court, he couldn't even get the ball past the midcourt. Two TOs in a blowout loss. Papa had to do that for him. I think that's it for Shved. McHale isn't going to trust him anymore. Bye-bye at the traded deadline.
Yes, one bad game is nothing. The irony of what you guys are saying is that, you only watched Canaan play well for a few games earlier and concluded he's a better alternative than Bev and Terry. The fact is that, both Beverley and Terry, as uninspired as they are lately, have played more good NBA games this year than Canaan has. I don't know why some many people here think that Canaan would be better than either of those guys. That said, I am all for getting him some minutes as a way of development. He clearly has the potential to be better. If for nothing, at least get him ready in case injuries strike.
