For this season- cant trade our bigmans, I know in PO McHale use max 8 player rotation, but in case of injures to have insure policy we need all of them. Even know Smiths expire this summer, case migth be that we would have DH/DMo/TJ rotation next year if no additions in froncourt and that not bad at all.
This team is more effective offensively with D-Mo at the 5. We are probably going to get killed on the inside against teams like Memphis or the Clippers, but we move the ball better and have less turnovers.
D-MO did pretty well against Memphis the last time he started for dwert and we got the W. Although only a one game sample but you already know though that D-MO, D-bo'd, Z-bo fo sho though.
This is the thing moving Dwight allows us to become a better version of Golden State with more upside because we have a more talented bench with players that just need NBA game time. At this point I fear the organization is close to risking it's bright future in order to keep a physically declining Dwight around. We have to learn from the past. Ask yourself would you trade away DMO or TJones who have more room to grow as players to keep a often injured declining in production D12 who I think it's safe to say his best athletic years are behind him. D12 is making 21 million and DMO & Tjones make combined less than 5 million, even after resigning them both to there second deals will you won't be paying them 21 mill. I'm not even taking into consideration Capella, he is another young big that just needs a summer with Mchale and Dream and NBA game time. Look at the Rockets potential future big men behind Dwight and I think it becomes clear. I think there future potential is greater Dwight's present.
Keep Dmo but if you move Dwight move Josh with him. Josh is pretty much emotionally attached to Dwight anyways...
You can't move Josh until March 25th. Also I doubt anyone would take him. He's going to become a FA after this season.
Then my point is you can't trade Dwight... Smith is here because of Dwight. Why don't you think he never considered Houston until Dwight was a Rocket?
I don't necessarily agree with your premise but say he did come here just for dwight. Why would that stop a trade? What can smith possibly do to stop it? Even if he mails it in its not like he's a huge part of the team now or next year. And you can always cut him. Not sure I follow your logic.
I like DMo's ability to morph into whatever player team needs. Whether it's an unselfish guy who just moves the ball and spreads the floor, or a dominant post scorer who can carry the team on his back.
