I don't mind Sims at all, in fact I would be quite pleased with him, but moving Canaan makes our 1 spot even weaker than it is. I would rather like to see Mo Williams as an expiring contract veteran PG than Marvin Williams on the team. Goran and Lawson will be very hard to obtain, so Mo can be a useful substitute.
I like Mo williams but think he will be a hot name come deadline and think another team will outbid us for him but he would be a solid addition. I could see a team like Charlotte trading for him especially with kemba injury.
That is certainly possible, but he shouldn't be as hard to obtain as Goran or Lawson. Our need for another part time scorer/PG is acute.
True i wouldnt mind trading Alexey for Randy Foye (hes becoming healthy in Denver) Randy and Jet splitting backup pg duties seems possible we have solid assets which Morey can turn to good playoff moves. I say keep the pick til draft day then try and work magic for a third star. I say make solid moves to get us to the number two seed come playoff time then go from there.
Collison is a very solid PG. 50% 2 point shooter. High 30% 3 point shooter... pretty much every year. His assists per 100 possessions also 8+ pretty much every year (basically Harden lat year... PBev is at 5, Dragic was 8+ last year, but only 6 this year... this is where Lawson excels, at 10+ for three straight years). If the Kings were shopping him - and I'm not sure why they would, other than their perpetual need to reshuffle - that'd be great. Any of Dragic, Lawson, Collison help... and allow Morey to say here's the offer, take it before I get one of the other 2...
I have pretty much assumed that Josh Smith will not be in Houston next year. But I actually like Brewer quite a lot off the bench. I think his style of game brings a lot to the table for the Rockets and is a good "fit" in many areas. I could see Brewer being brought back. And as a fan, I personally hope he is brought back.
I 100% agree on all 3 targets: Dragic, Lawson, Collison. I would offer the same package for Dragic and Lawson, but Collison is a step down in talent so I would pull back some assets. If the Rockets package "significant assets" for Dragic, that means they are prepared to do whatever it takes to sign him for the long term.
Yep. I think the fact that they already came to an agreement for him to waive his player option means they have something up their sleeve as an assurance to resign him if he doesn't receive any crazy offers. Josh Smith... that's going to be a tough one unless he just loves Houston that much to sacrifice big bucks. I think he's still going to get some very good offers probably from New York or LA, but don't sleep on Dallas making a decent offer too. He got a ton of flack when Houston was the front-runner to get him, but watch how the narrative will shift when the media folks for those big markets want him.... you will see a dramatic shift in the Josh Smith narrative.
I think josh smith stays depending on what happens. I think we have to get high in the playoffs or championship. Despite the warriors success I still feel rockets have the opportunity to be contenders. Him abd Howard are good friends to. Let's see what happens. If we land collision, dragic or lawson id say our chances at a title run are pretty high.
Then I'm guessing we dump t jones or dmo. I'd be upset if we dumped josh smith but I don't think that's the case due to his history
I say they should just go after Mo Williams Something like Houston in: MO Williams Minnesota in: Rockets 2017 second round pick Boston in: Shved & Portland's 2017 second round pick which the Rockets control
I think Lawson and Dragic would be worth the sacrifice. Given Howard's injury, we can't trade away any of the bigs. Given the Thunders struggle the Suns should feel they have a shot at the playoffs and might not want to move Dragic at all. Lawson is probably our best shot given that Denver is going no where this season.
I would say its 99% likely we don't get Lawson, 92% we don't get Dragic, 90% no Collison. Denver are keeping Lawson/we don't have anything they need Phoenix aren't trading dragic as they're in 8th, barring a ridiculous offer, which isn't usually made to someone on an expiring Collison is the same case as Dragic only for a different reason, not cuz of playoffs but cuz they have him at a decent contract, they wouldn't dump him so they'll want more than what we have to offer
I got a good one. To Minnesota: NOP pick, KPap, Shved, Dorsey, Nick J To Houston: Dieng, Kevin Martin, Mo Williams Why Minnesota does it: The NOP pick, getting rid of Martins contract and replacing him with youth (Johnson). Losing Dieng is a tough pill to swallow, but the reality is they've committed a lot of money to Pekovic at the center spot and he's tough to trade. Why Houston does it: Dieng would fit in nicely to solidify our front court, and great insurance for Howard, Mo Williams is a short term solution for another PG, and I know Kevin Martins years left on contract isn't appealing to us, but he would make a great offensive spark off the bench and 7 mill for that isn't bad if we're chasing a title. I thought about how Minnesota would also like a PF so maybe we'd offer Jones somewhere, but I would like to have this 5 man front court. Bev / Mo / Terry Harden / Martin / Terry Ariza / Brewer Dmo / Smith / Tjones Howard / Dieng
So I just checked Minnesotas game recently and did not realize Dieng was a starter for them now. You're right it won't happen. Even if we included Jones.
