This. He won't help the team by playing every other game or by missing a month and coming back and playing at 50% either. Hell, even if he plays close to peak level if he can only do it half the time he will do nothing more than throw off team chemistry (as McHale mentioned).

If he needs surgery, do it now. We can roll with DMo, Smith and hope TJ added some things to his game (maybe he did the old shoot from a stool like Yao did while rehabbing) and can beast for us. Dwight hasn't really done well this season against the best teams in the West anyway so maybe these young guys will catch fire and something special will happen in the playoffs.

Getting a 2nd opinion usually means it's bad. Dwight will probably be done for the year.

All the people who were saying he was coasting and being lazy should feel bad.

In a weird way, it's good news. If he can get that knee completely healthy we can get playoff Dwight back.

They'll be fine. T-Jones can more than make up for Black's absence now that he's back.

I never understood that criticism of him. The guy is in phenomenal shape and there are so many videos of him working out in the off-season that you either have to conclude that the guy busts his ass to get better each summer or that he and the Rockets decided to put out loads of videos of him working out only to trick the fans into thinking he works hard. Occam's razor applies here.

Or, or maybe it was Dwight's swingman doing all those videos.

It was obvious he has been hurt since early in the season but you know Clutchfans.

Micro fracture will put him out until what? Next year this time?

And that's if it works which is a coin flip?

He's going to lose a lot of what made him great defensively.

looking for a second opinion for a houston team always turns out to be the worst case scenario. another city, he probably comes back next week and scores 50.

As one of those people, I do - I believed the org when they said he was better and played like it the first couple of games - but as he declined it looked like he was just going through the motions, but instead it is clear he was injured.

Makes you feel like a heel to have doubted.

Yep, or if not, the other guys get a chance to find their rhythm and become whatever that group will be..

I hope we hear if Dwight will be ready for the playoffs before the deadline in case we need to trade for a center.

Morey is going to flip our first rounder (not NOH's) for Asik and expiring salary and piss on another franchise.

I'm trying to be optimistic here but microfracture has become fairly mainstream over the last five years so this isn't like when Amare had it and it was almost experimental. So it's possible the procedure, post-surgery treatment and rehab have progressed enough where it doesn't have to be a career-killer. IF he needs the surgery, we may get a 16 and 11 guy back in a year which is enough if he can play every game and remain mobile enough to aggressively defend the rim.

I remember back in the 80s and early 90s when an ACL tear meant a year out for rehab after the surgery and was still often a career killer but now guys have their ACLs repaired and are back in 6-8 months and look just as good as before.

There are varying degrees of microfracture, IIRC John Stockton had it and was back in a couple of months - so I guess it just depends on how severe the injury is, and the time table.

We all know TMac never made it back all the way - but Amare did for a while at least, so.....you never know.

My mindset pretty much...just hoping for the best.

Such a shame, we can never catch a break it seems.

I just really don't want to see it be microfracture surgery. Just please not that. Maybe the procedure has improved recently and there's something I don't know, but I don't like how guys have looked in the past after having had that procedure. Maybe it's not even the procedure itself, but just the fact that the guys have no cartilage at that point. Just please don't be that. Maybe it's bound to happen to certain players but man that's going to be depressing for me if it is microfracture surgery. I don't care what people say about you big fella, just tell me ya don't need that.

I'm determined to be optimistic until events prove otherwise. Dwight does, or gets done, whatever needs to be done to get back to a decent percentage of his normal self in time for the playoffs. After reading so many negative comments, I'd be thrilled with the guy missing the next 2 and a half months, as long as he's back in time to have a reasonable number of games under his belt before the first round. That's "all" I'm asking for. It may turn out to be asking for too much. I sure as hell hope not.

BTW- it sure cements CyberX as an insider - that guy nailed it - and it even got Feigen to ask about it which was denied.

Today's modern media - is so much more clued in to details....

Thanks CLUTCH for this board, we get info faster than anyone could ever hope to receive it, and being an out of towner it is really appreciated.
