Nothing against D-Mo, but visually the Rockets offense runs more smoothly with the original starting 5 from last year mainly because Jones is one additional player that can handle the rock. He hardly create for others, but he can aptly create for himself. Remember, Jones used to be a guard. My prediction is that Jones will eventually reclaim his starting position, with Smith backing him up. D-Mo should back up Howard. Not sure how D-Mo would react going back to the bench, but to me it is just a question of fit, not a judgment on either player, as both players bring entire different styles to the team. DD was right, D-Mo is a 5, not a 4, unless you want your 7 footer shooting 3's from the corner.
Jones can create for himself? Since when? Are we talking about scoring in transition or legitimately scoring in the half court? Most of his scoring is either in transition or with putbacks. If Jones is starting, it would be one fewer guys on the court that could actually create their own shot and it would make the defense worse....but the rebounding would be better.
Is he suiting up tonight? Word should come down soon if he was at shoot around or whatever they do pregame.
Correct. That's a strength that should not be minimized for a team lacking those abilities. Harden obviously does it, Bev on occasion (he should do more), and that's pretty much it, except for a play here and there. Anyway, I am just very excited to have Jones back and in many ways Morey hit small jackpots with those two yuts.
Jones can create his own shot. It was mentioned earlier this season that the coaches were encouraging him to take his man off the dribble more often because that is one of his biggest strengths as a player. I'm not expecting a whole lot from him just yet. He may need a few games to get back up to speed, but he brings something else offensively to the table that none of our other bigs can duplicate. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/33kRCDepVGw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
