What is the difference between the two cartoons
as far as freedom of speech is concerned?

The First says .. . . . the Koran is ***** but it cannot stop bullets
The Second says . . . Charlies is ***** but it cannot stop bullters

One is celebrated the other is a imprisonable offense?

French freedom of speech is a bunch of meh at best. . .a bunch of Merde at worse

We already know that there is no such thing as true freedom of speech.

    Here's a source in French:

    Huge hypocrites.

France Arrests 54 For Defending Terror; Announces Crackdown

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/14/france-terror-crackdown_n_6469726.html

The Justice Ministry said the 54 people included four minors and several had already been convicted under special measures for immediate sentencing. Inciting terrorism can bring a 5-year prison term -- or up to 7 years for inciting terrorism online.

So what you saying is .. . . .you did not bother to read the article
Last Sentence of the next to last paragraph

"the poor French high school kid who simply repeated this cartoon online to laugh about it, was arrested, immediately tried with no rigor, just a fast appearance with no lawyer before an angry judge and SENT TO PRISON."

some people are so stupid, the freedom to practice religion is the same freedom to criticize it, imo rightly.

If religion makes extraordinary claims it should be able to be extraordinarily criticized and critiqued, but apparently a cartoon is too much for the almightly to handle

Funny, when you post garbage from an Israeli paper or some Zionist creep it's just legitimate news. I guess Fox News will make it all clear now.

France arrests 54 in crackdown on people defending terror
    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/01/14/france-arrests-54-in-crackdown-on-people-defending-terror/

Among those detained was Dieudonne, a controversial, popular comic with repeated convictions for racism and anti-Semitism.

The attacks that left 17 people dead are prompting France to tighten security measures but none of the 54 people detained have been linked by authorities to the violence. That is raising questions about whether the government is impinging on the freedom of speech that Charlie Hebdo so vigorously defends.

The Justice Ministry said 54 people — including four minors — have been detained for defending or verbally threatening terrorism since the Charlie Hebdo attack. Several have already been convicted under special measures for immediate sentencing.

Let's see, one parody regards a group of individuals who terrorize others with violence, intimidation and extortion while the other is a parody of a group of individuals who mock a religion and terrorist groups.

Ladies and gentlemen, the inability to understand the difference between these two parodies is coming from the same CF member who thinks a cop should go to jail for shooting an unarmed suspect even after the cop pulled over the car for running a stop sign, with a handgun in plain sight, after instructing the individual to show their hands while they reached around in the dark, even after warning the individual about the consequences of their action (the possible fatal consequences), and even after instructing the individual to not step out of the car.

    There you have it.

Thank you. These guys are something else.

That said, I don't think they should arrest people for being idiots. Rocket River and CometsWin would long be off the street if that was standard procedure.

We understand the hypocrisy of claiming you support free speech, having all kinds of demonstrations to that effect, and then jailing people for free speech.

You're failing to understand the context of 'free speech'. The person who drew the cartoon was not violating any law, and that person is not the subject of the thread title, the thread post or any subsequent discussion (until now). It was the student, to which no background information was provided. It's not hypocrisy, it's comprehension.

this is disturbing. i think those guys are idiots for mocking the fench guys who got killed. but they should be allowed to say whatever they want.

freedom of speech means you can say bad things about a religion and that religion's people can say bad things about you. i don't agree with most of what lefties say on this forum but i will fight for their right to say it. this makes the french look like hypocrites. it means there is no universal freedom of speech which is neutral. it shows the french only get to what they want but anyone not on board with the main french mindset gets jailed. no conservative would support this.

dont give me that bs about context {arent you the guy who keeps denying global warming?}. short of yelling fire in a crowded theater to make people stampede, you can say whatever the hell you want. your screen name makes me think your hispanic. i hope your not an american like that german fellow b.c thats just damn embarrassing that you think freedom of speech only works in certain places and situations. either you believe in people saying whats on their mind or not even if it makes you sick. thats what america is all about. looks like french is less free than us.

----In a message distributed to all French prosecutors and judges, the Justice Ministry laid out the legal basis for rounding up those who defend the Paris terror attacks as well as those responsible for racist or anti-Semitic words or acts. The order did not mention Islam.

That's the part that really raised my eyebrow. That's France for you...

I don't think any of these guys should have been arrested. It's an overreaction by the French judiciary, which, however, is somewhat understandable given recent events. None of these people is going to stay in jail for long, if at all.

Where is the outrage of CometsWin, Rocket River and Remii about 1000 lashes for Raif Badawi?

    Nowhere.

They always choose to be on the wrong side when it comes to choosing right or wrong.

No, I'm not failing in the least. Maybe you should circle the wagons and try again.

Long and shot of this is .. . . by and large you hate anyone who practices Islam
and only support those that help you try to justify your hatred.
If they can be your pet <Insert Group Here>
Who will agree with you and give you the . .. see I have a friend who is <Insert Group Here> . . .then you good with them
    All the others
who won't 'behave' well .. .they are criminals, idiots, booboo heads or what ever

You want to b*tch about a guy getting lashes
but you think torture is ok on the people of Islam
does not seem to matter if they are terrorist or not . .only that they are of terrorist descend [Guantanamo]
