Texas is not running out of scholarships. Most think they take 31 this season. They are at 24 now. That leaves a minimum of 7 scholarships available. Add in Gentry and Davis will likely end up elsewhere, and there are a number of kids who might not qualify, there is plenty of room in this class.
Let the Aggy tears flow, from Aggy writer Billy Liucci: Spoiler Brock Huard and Tom Luginbill should lose their job for what they did. To sit up there and explain why Kyler should flip to Texas and not offer any reason why he should stay was some of the most blatant, one sided journalism I have ever seen covering recruiting. Both of those guys have generally been negative towards A&M." "They went down there a few days ago with Kevin Murray, that visit went well. This is what I know for a fact, Texas has promised Kyler Murray the starting job. I know that is not something A&M would do with Kyle Allen here. I also know that the Aggies did not do that a year ago when they recruited Kyle Allen. That was without an incumbent starter. That was after Johnny had left and it was Kenny and Matt Joeckel battling for a job. They did not guarantee Allen a starting job and I know they aren't going to do it to Kyler, in that regard. There's a difference right there, but I also wonder what Jerrod Heard and Tyrone Swoopes are thinking right now, not that Kyler would not beat them out. "It's just the simple fact that that act reeks of desperation, it reeks of a coach that is rolling the dice for a total backfire if they don't get Kyler. But, they might end up getting him. There is too much smoke to ignore it. I said yesterday, if you did not think that was more than a courtesy visit or that he was trolling, you had your head buried in the sand. Jake Spavital will be there today and for me this thing is trending towards Texas, it could go either way, but by the day it gets more interesting but I think momentum is building in Texas' favor behind the scenes. But again, this is the same fan base and same people that covered thigns that thought Nick Saban was going to be the head coach a year ago. "I would exercise caution and not jump off a cliff, but this is a serious battle and A&M is in a position right now where they are fighting to gain back momentum. That is insane when you think about, if it had been anybody but one of the most anemic, downtrodden offenses in college football. A coaching staff that seemed like they were getting nothing done on the recruiting front, a lack of skill players, offensive line problems, the whole deal. "Even if he wasn't going to A&M, Kyler Murray could have been at Oregon or Oklahoma, even Tech or Baylor for a quarteback. It is mindblowiing that two weeks until signing day, after A&M gave Kyler Murray the keys to the kingdom for seven months now, it would be hard to imagine that not only Kyler but one of the all time A&M legends saying, 'Yeah, no we're going to go to your arch rival and destroy your class in the process. Thanks for holding that spot for us, but we're going to flip.' Not to mention Kyler putting in as much work as he did to get Christian Kirk here. That makes you want to step back and wait to hear from Kyler himself. The flirtation is real, we know that, but lets see if this really comes to fruition or if it is just a late scare." "I know that Kyler is more competitive than that. It is always an issue with a quarterback, no matter how good. Being named the day one starter is always more attractive than the alternative. When Kyler committed, you knew this had a chance to happen. I saw an article yesterday that said, 'If Kyle keeps balling, or whatever the word was, why would Kyler go to A&M?' It was weird that that would be the headline of an article, it was like they were recruiting him to Texas. The point is, Kyle Allen had a good finish to the year. It is not as attractive in terms of being handed the job, but Kyler could win the job and would be presented every opportunity do so and would still be going into a situation where there isn't a backup quarterback. "I like to give Kyler the benefit of the doubt because I think he is that competitive, I think he believes in himself that much. I think he is having second thoughts as he walks up to the alter and that is understandable. The question is, can A&M overcome that? The other question is, Texas people have came right out and said it, and we have had Kevin on the show many times, it is coming out of Austin in waves and some have gone as far as to say that Kevin Murray just flat out does not like Kevin Sumlin, that there is a rift between the two, and a rift between Kevin and A&M. Everybody read the Chip Brown article and I was offended by that as an Aggie. As someone that knows what has gone on with former players and how they have been embraced by the program and the university, but to insinuiate it, right now, there are a lot of people putting out that Kevin is down on A&M for the way he has been treated. "They are putting that out in Austin as almost fact. I don't believe that to be true, but they are basically saying that Kevin is steering the ship to lead Kyler to Austin and to me that is a stretch. Knowing Kevin as long as I have, he is a hard guy to win over and you respect that. People have to understand Kevin to understand that he is not going to give a free pass to anybody. In other words, he is not going to be thrilled with everything going on with A&M or Sumlin. He wouldn't be that way with Sherman or Fran or Slo$#@!. Maybe he was with Sherrill back then but he wouldn't be now. That is just who Kevin is. I think that is getting misconstrued. I think that is where all this stuff is emanating from. The people who are writing this believe it, and it is not coming out of thin air." "It is important because A&M has Texas down and they have their hand on their throat. Texas has nothing going, which would make it even more shocking if a player of his caliber would go. They would be invigorated, they would go Malik, Kyler, Lodge and probably Daylon to say the least. On top of that, A&M has a desperate need for quarterback. The thing is, Kirk is on campus. They could have had Jarrett Stidham on campus at any point along the way in the fall. To the point, I know he reached out to A&M more than once and A&M said, 'thanks, but no thanks, we've got our guy.' He would not only be a signee but would be on campus right now going through spring. "That is how highly A&M thought of Kyler and how loyal they were to him. You can change your mind, no matter how inexplicable the choice may be. But, to do it this late and leave A&M and Jake Spavital, the guys on the team and the fan base exposed this late in the game, I would be shocked. This is what we know as a fact, Kyler Murray is committed to A&M and we know for a fact that he recruited a lot of kids here and has a great relationship with Jake Spavital. If he goes on an official visit, I think A&M is in a lot more trouble. Lets wait and see what happens." "I think you have to look at it from a common sense stand point and say there is definitely a lot to Kevin or Kyler coming out and thwarting all of this. I've been told from one side of this that this is all made up, my answer would be that it is coming from Kevin and Kyler and DeMarkus being in Austin two days ago. On one hand, Kevin Murray is the type that could say, 'I don't need to respond to things that are not true.' There is some element of that. There is also the element of, if it is not true at all, this is tremendously affecting A&M's momentum down the stretch. It has the potential to cripple A&M's recruiting effort down the stretch. I won't say it is going to cripple the class, because there are a lot of good players and still will be. But for what they need to do and how they need to finish, it is a crippling blow. "If it was completely untrue, everything made up, how much would it help and benefit A&M and if Kyler Murray were intent on signing with this class, how much of a push would it give for him to come forward and say, 'I'm an Aggie, I'm coming to A&M.' If he has 100% intent, that is the only way to go. If you are coming to school, why would you not want as many great players to jump on and the more time the better. There is a real thing going on there, A&M does not have this thing locked up by any stretch of the imagination. The simple solution would be to come out and squash these rumors." "I think A&M has a big chance to grab Kris Boyd and Holton Hill and address that cornerback need with a giant exclamation point. But, I don't think that would happen if Kyler and Lodge and the whole snowball effect were going on in Austin. Right now, Hill is coming in as a Texas lean, so A&M would have to reverse that and to do it Texas can't have a bunch of momentum on the recruiting front." "I feel very strongly that if A&M gets Kyler, they will get Daylon Mack, DeMarkus Lodge and Kris Boyd. That is how big it makes Kyler Murray."
You do know Kyler is still an Aggie, right? With Gentry looking more and more like a Michigan flip, you'd better HOPE Kyler switches.
Word is Kyler met with Texas Baseball Head Coach Augie Garido on Wednesday as well. Sounds like he's either doing some hard trolling or giving UT one final look.
@Bob Barker, why would Aggie tears be flowing? At least he would be staying in the state. Of course now Daylon Mack is taking an official to Texas this weekend as well. The silly season of recruiting is in full swing. Goodluck!

Has nothing to do with Harbaugh. UT has been after Kai Locksley all year. They thought they had before he committed to FSU.
