DMo is pretty masterful in the post and is coming into his own, but I really don't think he'd fare as well with getting volume touches against 1st team defense that are expecting him to demand post-ups. He's a really smart player and takes advantage of favorable match-ups, and that makes him a lethal player in those kinds of situations.
I seriously doubt D-Mo will be shunned for demanding the ball. Players clawing their ways to bigger roles constantly do that in the NBA. We are NOT talking about D-Mo dissing anyone, just asserting the fact that he has become a reliable one to one scoring option in the low post. A lot of times, simply waiting for your time or waving your hand in the air even will NOT get you noticed. You have to speak up and loud about what you want at times to get noticed, especially among players like PBev who are aggressive and persistent by nature and is trying to prove too many things. Again, we are NOT talking about him throwing someone under the bus, outing any dirty laundry, or starting any fights. I am simply wanting and hoping to see D-Mo take the next step and let them know he WANTS a heavier scoring load, that he IS a reliable scoring and creating option.
Draymond Green is the worst possible match-up for D-Mo. D-Mo should have Green fouled out every time. But McHale legit does not run plays for him. When D-Mo got two post up's in the second half, it resulted in two quick fouls for Green. On the other hand, there's no way D-Mo can guard Green. He had to spend so much effort on defense running around with Green. And Green has to expend almost none guarding him because we do not post D-Mo up enough. Of course, it doesn't help that D-Mo rushed his shot and generally played like **** tonight, having his worst game as a starter. But even in other games between the Rockets-Warriors this season, this has been the case.
Spot on. If Warriors are gonna play Green at the 4 and McHale is going to go with DMo at the 4, then Rockets have to go to DMo in the post to get Green out of there. Otherwise, if we aren't going to go to DMo in the post, then take him out and put in Kostas or move Ariza over on Green and go smaller on the perimeter. Makes no sense to have DMo play Green and not take advantage of DMo's post up game but subjugate DMo to being abused by Green on the perimeter. That's coaching.
I agree completely. It blew my mind last game as well. If you're not gonna play that way, there's absolutely no reason for D-Mo to be in the game. Green could have been completely taken out of the game. But no, why would we do the smart thing? Kostas, Ariza, or even Harden should have been playing the PF for us against Green.
Dmo sucked last nigh as usual when we play good teams. This so called great rim protector didn't do jack and couldn't get a rebound if it fell in his hands. His post game sucked so why is everyone on his jock strap again?
loo Dwight needs help as he will when we play any elite west conference team. Looks like Dmo is going to get abused as I thought he would. After Dmo's sorry ass performance we won't get anything back. We are screwed in the playoffs unless Morey can pull off a miracle or we move to the east conference.
I'm a big fan of DMo and excited to watch his progress; however, he is only averaging 4 rebounds a game. Which is not encouraging. Hell, he only got 3 more rebounds than I did last night.
DMo is skilled but a bit unathletic. He isn't going to sky over guys for rebounds, blocks, and dunks. That said, the warriors play tremendous defense and Bogut is an elite interior presence. Our whole team struggled.
DMo did not have his best game - was pretty bad, TBH, but he has been over 50% for a long time - and he is due a clunker from time to time, and when he was blocked it wasn't the guy guarding him but Bogut coming off of Howard from the weakside. As for rebounds, when the other team shoots better than 50% there are not a whole lot of rebounds to go around. DD
lol During the time we had among the softest schedules in the league and the team was playing great defense as a whole. Now the schedule we have means we need to step it up and Dmo is not doing so.
Checking his stats, seems DMo has been average in defence for Dec and Jan. November he was outstanding, but hasnt been anything exceptional the last 2 months.
